Dream tool/equipment set?
We all have dreams...what's your dream tool/equipment set?
I want all Snap-On hand tools and diagnostic equipment. I did a shopping cart last night on Snap-On's website, $92,000. I hadn't even gotten halfway done. Also, Snap-On 1065 Master Series toolbox, at least one... For the equipment, I want one of each of Baleigh's products. I want centerpost lifts, 4-wheel lifts, dual post lifts, all capable of at least 20K lbs. There is more I forgot, but that's the jist. I'm thinking a total of about $750,000-$1,000,000 at least. Oh, and a shop the size of a Walmart distribution center. :metal: Incase you havent figures it out, I plan to have an awesome shop. :D Complete with 18-wheler sized paint booths, powder coat ovens, media blasting bays, cryo tanks. Metal plating. Full fabrication section. And of course, top of the line EVERYTHING. I almost forgot, a 24hr chef. Must have. :D Now, what do you guys want? :haha: |

Re: Dream tool/equipment set?
Nice thought Bradley but for something actually attainable for me, I would love to get my hands on a set of craftman professional 90's era metric thickbody wrenches. These are better than anything I've seen, including Snap on. They had a nice thick body and were fully polished USA made. After a couple years of production, they thinned out the body. I have a set of standard ones and they are a joy to use. I hope to stumble across a set on ebay or garage sale someday.

Re: Dream tool/equipment set?
I was real close to getting a "Costco" Danmar 4 post rack right before the 08 economy disturbance. We passed. Probably a good thing as my wages dipped. Too many other things have come up since.
That is my 1st pick but an English wheel, bead roller, beverly shear, old school anvil, cnc bridgeport mill, metal lathe would be nice:metal:. Next up most likely will be a horizontal band saw. |

Re: Dream tool/equipment set?
I'd love to have a rapid prototype machine. Draw up my creations in Solidworks then print a 3d part!

Re: Dream tool/equipment set?
I've been collecting for my dream shop for about 6 years now. If I had bought new I would have 75K-100K tied up but in reality I have about 10K invested. I have been buying out shops and groups of tools keeping what I need and selling off the rest. Its been a lot of work and shipping and crating but in the end I have a new cast iron English Wheel from the Netherlands that you can't even buy any more, a Powermatic band saw, a Rotary 2 post lift, large compressor, 12ga Tensmith 48" finger brake, Diacro punch set, Pexto 18ga roller, Pexto 16ga sheer and all kinds of general tools.
Its all mostly in storage right now but once I finish my shop and move everything in and get working I will have my dream shop. |

Ha Ha. Forgot about this thread. I'm with NONHOG...Bridgeport for me.
...with me, manual, with a few perks, would be fine. Horizontal bandsaws are very handy...like having an extra shop hand while you walk away! Set in the stock, turn on the coolant...stops when done. Had one years ago, got stolen, miss it still. Rats. Lets see now...how many days til Christmas? . |
