I need help with speedo cable

I recenty got my th350 trans rebuilt, now my speedo cable doesnt work.. theres a screw holding a metal plate down where the speedo cable cant screw down all of teh way, but whe I take the metal plate and screw out, the speedo cable doesnt screw on, the whole assembly or whatever turns.

Here is a picture of the speedometer gear "bullet" and the driven speedometer gear assembled:

It's possible that this gear (below) was left out when the transmission was rebuilt:

You can fix it yourself, it takes 5 minutes to see if it's there or not. Undo the speedo cable from the tranny, wind out the "bullet," and see if the plastic gear is there. If not, just order one from online. They're less than $20 if I remember right. But if it's the transmission shop's fault, I agree, they should guarantee their work and fix it in a timely fashion if they're respectable at all.

I have a related q, is there a seal/gasket that is meant to prevent tranny oil from leaking at the speedo cable? I always see red fluid pooled around it.

Thanks.
