51 chevy hood ?
 

I am looking at a 51 chevy truck that I think is in pretty good shape. The hood lower front is completely rusted out, what would be the fix for this? Can the lower section be bought or will it have to be fabricated? This is my first try at a rebuild.

Is it the hood or the brace under the hood with the pin and safety latch

Good hoods aren't that hard to find nor are they usually that expensive. You should be able to find a really nice one for well under 100 dollars.

I'm curious how this rusted completely out...never seen that one before

handyhands, I fixed the front edge on the hood for the truck I am building. It was not to bad to make. I think I have pictures on my build.
