Re: Running 455 olds motor
I don't know much about it. Bought it being told it was running good when parked. The truck was parked about 4 years ago because of a busted radiator. I hooked up an IV to the carb, threw a battery in it and it fired right up! Idles nice and revs good. Its a little loud since it needs some manifold gaskets. I have a video i'll try to get you of it running. Better yet.....road trip up here and we can run compression etc. ;)

Re: Running 455 olds motor
I may be able to make it up some time this week.I'm working in Gardner tomorrow and Wednesday.Possibly have Thursday and Friday off.
Is the engine still in the truck? Is the starter on the drivers side on the 455? |
Re: Running 455 olds motor
Anyway we can run some numbers. I may not be interested if the engine is 1971 or later.

Re: Running 455 olds motor
Engine is still in truck. i won't begin a big teardown until this weekend. Starter is on drivers side. i can pull some numbers if you tell me where to look.

Re: Running 455 olds motor
I think there is a VIN derivitive stamping on a pad below the #1 exhaust port.Should have 9 numbers on it...The second # or character will tell the year of the block..There are other stampings in different locations that give other info about the engine.

Re: Running 455 olds motor
didnt see anything below #1 but may not be looking in the right spot. Motor does have HEI and a number of of thermal acctuated vacuum ports so it maybe a later motor.

Re: Running 455 olds motor
i now believe its a 76 motor based upon the number stamped into the oil fill tube. runs good! ;)

Re: Running 455 olds motor
