Show us your original dealer emblems!

Got the idea from a comment in an other thread. Anybody still got their dealer emblems on the truck? Mine has one from a Dealer named "Holfield" in Wichita - I didn't have the heart to remove it, and probably never will! (upper left edge of tailgate)

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

the leading "s" and the "c" are missing, and scholfield in wichita used that emblem on every used car in the late 80s and early 90s. The reason I am sure it was put on used is because scholfield never carried new chevys, in the 60s it was just Quality (since closed) and Don Hattan

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

Oh, well maybe I WILL yank it off now that I know it's just broken and not "unique" :(
(now that's funny - I guess it really IS unique then....)

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

I saw the emblem and said "hey that looks just like a scholfield emblem". sorry to be Buzz Killington... :(

I just noticed you live in CA, have a truck with NY plates, and a wichita car lot badge. your truck gets around!

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

Not exactly an emblem, but I still have one of the original dealer installed license plate frames that came with my truck. The top row reads SAN LUIS OBISPO (California), and the bottom row reads KIMBALL MOTOR CO. The black plates are also original to the truck, issued in 1963.

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

those are cool Mark - I LOVE CA black plates - too bad they don't still issue em and too bad they cost about 25 times as much down here these days!

joedoh, that pic is actually from the "for sale" ad - was a great guy in NY that I bought it from when I lived in MARYLAND! Then moved to CA. Only passed THRU Wichita on the way, maybe someone slapped that on when I wasn't lookin.... Funny story - I drove about 10 hrs up to NY to look at the truck - and I assumed it was just fate that I buy it, the seller walked out wearing an Honest Charly Speed Shop T-shirt. The same one I had on!

No worries - as you can tell, I wasn't 100% sure I wanted to keep it on there, at least now I know!

My emblem is not original but I slapped in my truck anyways. My parents are for around Las Vegas, New Mexico. This emblem was found in a junkyard...

"Quality Chevrolet, Las Vegas New Mexico" :chevy:

Re: Show us your original dealer emblems!

Was cruising thru the board this morning and seen this thread and stopped in for a look. Seen the "holfield" emblem and the further explanation of that and thought it was interesting. My wife's cousin until just recently worked for Scholfield dealership in the parts department, before that he worked at Quality Chevrolet at 1520 East Douglas til it closed and then moved to parts department at Scholfield. He was my main "contact" for obsolete Chevy parts there for several years. He actually was in the parts field when they used "books" to look for a part instead of sitting at a computer screen.

Also in Wichita besides Quality and Don Hattan in the late 60's was a dealership by the name of Yingling Chevrolet located at 301 S. Topeka. Andy (Longhornman board member) had his original truck sold there years ago. Was able to find him a couple old dealership items from there and sent them to him, still looking for a Yingling tag frame for him. Burned down late '68. Do a Google search for the story, 4 firemen including the Wichita Fire Chief died when the roof collapsed. Very sad.

those are all too cool. I especially like the metal Las Vegas NM, Maine, and Ft Worth emblems! And I'm with jchava - i think it adds a little character even if the truck DIDN'T come from the dealer... Kinda adds a hometown feel to a truck.

Maybe I'll leep my "Holfield" emblem now that I know that there's not another one like it in the world (unless someone else broke the 1st 2 letters off too...)

Clasen-Morse was in Kansas City, KS. Morse is still in business in Overland Park, KS, about a mile from where I'm sitting right now.

I think this photo actually is marked with Clasen-Morse hand-written on the back, so your truck may have come from this very parking lot.

I finally got around to loading this pic so I can post it. It's not as nice as some of the others, but it's all I've got. It's on my '63 C60 that was sold new in Rupert, Idaho to the city of Paul, Idaho.
