my race truck

Hello C10 fans
This is my 1970 Chevy C10, this is the first truck I ever bought, I was 16 and paid 1600 dollars for it. I am the 10th and hopefully final owner. I am now 25 and have the funds to restore her to the way i want. I was fortunate enough to meet the man who painted this truck in 85. He had a big block in it. When I pick her up she had a wore out 350, with a junk yard rear end and tranny. I drag raced it though out high school, won a NHRA national even(first pic) and was my class runner up twice. I started rebuilding her but then i got deployed and she got sat in the weeds until recently. I will post picture of how she sits right now. I will try and keep things posted but I am a busy boy, with college and 60hr work weeks. I hope you enjoy and any suggestion will help the cause

Marcus

PLANS
67 front clip off a 67 C30
Shaved Door Handles
Shave Drip Rail
4/6 static drop
disc brakes at all four corners
considering chopping the top but a little scared too

the first pic is basically how I got her with the exception of the rear wheels and tires and lettering
the second pic is how I hope she will end up looking, I am in to the ol school look

well I got my truck back to my house, and tore it down, I will get picks up as soon as i find my camera, I just moved. I had already taken the bed off, couldnt save it, lots of bondo and rust. I got the a 67 front clip on it that I scored off CL for 150 bucks. I will try and post pictures tomorrow

OK I got some pic of my C10 as she sits right now, i had some problems with the tear down pics, the old 383 stroker and turbo 350 came out without a problem, the front clip like the box was bond and rust holes. the floor is pretty decent. the cab supports are shot. the rocker and cab corners were replaced once already so i have to replace, i and fix what the PO messed up. I started to fill in the firewall and I sat the 67 C30 front clip on it for pics

cool, that c30 is pretty awesome

Re: my race truck

the C30 is pretty solid except for the floor pan, we have a 67 hi hump cab we have been using for parts and its gonna donate its floor pan to the 1 ton, he is planning on a 502 and maybe a 4speed but he changes his mind every 20min.

Thanks Guys

Well I think I may have found the motor for this yet to be named project. I am going to look at a 6.0 vortec out of a 2001 GMC 2500 this weekend. I love CraigsList. It looks like this might be and LS swap after all.

Re: my race truck

well i got the casting numbers from the guy selling the motor turned out to be a 5.3 with 250,000 miles on it. I am gonna pass on this one. If anyone has a 6.0 vortec around Nebraska I would be interested.

Well I bought a new toy to hold me over untill I get my 70 redone. Its a 1985 Silverado SWB. I am finally getting around to putting pictures up. Nothing to special 350/350, 2/4 drop, 2 inch cowl hood and some el cheepo china rims for now.

ps: Does anyone know what back spacing I need to run these 315/60/r15? They are Mickey Thompson ET streets and after the 4 in drop in back they rub on the outside but have some room on the inside. Thanks

Am i crazy for thing about this let me know what you all think.

Re: my race truck

Well I did some sanding on the cab of my 70 and the roof was just covered with bondo, like 1/8" - 3/16" thick, it looks like some time ago it got hailed on and they just fixed it the easy way. So I progress was slowed trying to get to the metal. I just love PO's

Re: my race truck

I have a question about floor pans. I bought a 67 cab for a 150 bucks that has a perfect floor pan. Instead of patching mine up I want to just replace it with the 67 pan. my question is where are all the spot welds that hold the floor pan to the rest of the cab and do I need to cut out the outter rockers? Pictures would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Re: my race truck

Well small update. I decided on what I am going to do for a rear suspension. I am going with a cpp totally tubular reartrail arms kit and coilover shock, this is gonna give me the 6 inch static drop I want and should give me the traction I need. I will figure out spring rates after I get the truck together. I am going to do a 2.5 drop spindle and 2 inch drop springs up front. I just need to figure out what I am going to do for a power plant. I have it narrowed down to a carbed ls motor or a big block. Aiming for a low 12 high 11 street truck.
