1972 C-10 "Insert Catchy Build Name"
Hello and Greetings to All,
This is the start of my build thread for my 1972 C-10. I have had the truck for about a year now. I bought it from a marine 1st Lt who was deploying to Afghanistan, again. It was his baby and he put ALOT of work into it. After buying it I too went on deployment. Because of the deployment I have not had much time to work on the truck, but that's all about to change. Build Pipeline: 1. New transmission 2. Seal/undercoat frame/pans 3. Fresh paint 4. Interior update Does anyone have suggestions for the above numbered items? I am looking at buying a TKO600 kit from americanpowertrains.com. Has anyone used or heard good/bad things about this company. Feedback is welcomed and appreciated! This is my first solo build! -350 V8, bored 0.30 -Elderbrock 4-barrel -4 speed muncie -Eaton posi unit -Richmond 3.73 gearing Listed below is are the details on the TKO600 kit that I am thinking about buying. Thoughts? -72 C-10 350/375Hp/255.70.15/3.73/bench -PFGM-12016, TKO600.64 ProFit Kit for Street Rod/Truck/SUV Chevy, Kit Includes: -New Tremec TKO600, -Frame mount crossmember -HD Polyurethane Isolator, -PST 3.5" DOM Driveshaft, -Cryo Treated TKO Slip Yoke, -Cryo Treated Solid U-Joints, -Custom Speedo Conversion, -Calibrated Speedo Gear, -HD Pilot Bearing -Weatherseal Reverse Light Harness, 5-Speed Shift Knob, Seems like a good, complete kit. Or should I go for a 6 speed? Anyone know if a 6 speed with fit without tunnel modifications? I talked to another company, Keisler Transmission, and they said that a 6spd would not fit without "major" tunnel changes. American Power Train disagreed and thought that a 6 speed would fit fine. |
