Rear brake backing plates

Since my front end noise decided to stop until the real cold weather comes i figured i'd tackle the plates. Dorman offers 1 and 2 piece backing plates for the '04 burb, is one better than the other? The 2 piece sounded good until i realized i need to pull it apart to get the old one off anyhow. I saw another post where he recommended changing the axle seals at the same time, is this typical? Why do they recommend using new bolts for the diff cover in the manual? To lazy to apply loctite?

Re: Rear brake backing plates

New axle seals need to be install anytime the axle is out. The 1-peice backing plates are better. You can reuse the bolts....GM likes to makes money throughout the life of your vehicle.
