Frames?

OK, I am putting my new motor and tranny in and just found out my frame is bent. The PO got me on that one. Anyway, I have a 3/4 ton frame I can use for my 1/2 ton truck so I read that it will work it just has extra bracing and the rear cab mounts are lower than the 1/2 ton. My question is can you just cut the extra bracing out and move the rear cab mounts instead of buying 3/4 ton cab mounts

Re: Frames?

The frame is made of thicker metal too.
there is no reason to cut out the added braces. In reality, there is no reason to relocate the cab mounts. If you have new 1/2 ton rubbers, see if you can sell them or return them and get the 3/4 ton ones. They are taller to help with the ride.

Are you sure the frame can't be straightened?

Re: Frames?

The frame is a 70 chevy and I am going to switch it over to 5 lug and also put on a 4/6 drop so I wont be using to much of the old suspension, so I thought about using the 3/4 ton frame, switching everything over, then swaping the body on the new frame. I'm just trying to see if it would be worth doing.
