LS2 Oil Pan choices
 

Does anyone have any suggestions on what oil pan to use with the LS2 so there are no clearence with the cross member or ground problems? This 2wd Blazer will be on air so when aired out the cross member will be on the ground. The motor is out of a Trailblazer SS AWD so it has a larger pan for the drive shafts to go through. I was going to change the pan to get more clearence. Any suggestions?

Alot depends on the engine mounts that you plan to use. I just got a caddy pan for mine to use with stock mounts that are moved back to the rear 2 out of 3 frame holes. This with the cheap adapter adapter mounts places the engine in a position just about where the small block was, maybe a bit more towards the firewall.
This pan doesn't hang down below the crossmember

I was going to use the ECE mounts and the GM performance musclepan kit. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think the muscle car pan is similar to the truck pan. The F-body pan is supposed to fit with those ECE mounts.
At the top of the forum, you can do a search. Try 'oil pan ece mounts' There is a good thread that shows pan measurements and other mount options

Great information. I actually just want to change to the GM muscle car one but a couple guys keep telling me to go with the C6 vette set up however that one is a lot more money. The Muscle car one is similiar dimension to the TBSS awd pan except a little more room near the cross member. Has any one actually done ece mounts and the GM pan swap? Again thanks for any advice.

i used the swap pan with adapter plates, and the clearance is pretty nice.
The vette pan is great but that setup with the dry sump is spendy.

I used the GM muscle car pan on my 67 sub, A little close to the crossmember n center link but its ok. Ground clearance is ok too, i have about a 3/5 drop.

I have a '73-'87 but I have an ls2 out of an awd tbss too, and I used the muscle car pan...my engine was a 2006, and the new pan switches to a 2007 oil filter if you haven't gotten there yet just be aware, might sound easy but took me a while to figure it out. lol

Sounds like you are a valuable sounding board and a great wealth of experience...lol. I hope you don't mind if I try and pick your brain on this. I still have to take the motor out of the TBSS. So, any advice in what I need to make sure I get would be a great help.

yea I'll help you out the best I can, if you have any questions just ask. I know a few things will be different since we have different body types...but my build in my sig should be semi helpful. With what to take out and everything depends on how you want to do it. I bought mine already taken out so I didn't have an option. The things you should make sure you have is engine, trans, wiring harness, computer, trans controller (not sure the correct name, but looks similar to computer), maf (off intake), if you want to try to use the air box take that, some people take the fuse box and most fuses and use that fuse box (I haven't got this far but don't plan on using the the tbss fuse box), manifolds, if you get the transfer case you might be able to sell it to offset cost, radiator (if you want to try to make it work, I'm going to do an aftermarket with electric fans)...idk if I'm forgetting anything else but that is all I can think of at the moment

I know TR65 was very helpful for me, and he has a build on here too with an ls2, although his has a t56 out of an ssr. He used more parts off the original vehicle than I did.

The F-body pan will not work with ECE mounts. You'll have to go with a Cadillac CTsV or the H2 pan. I've got pictures of both in my suburban build thread and one of the above links.

Thanks for the advice Jordan. I will start to heckle you a bit later. My body is in paint prison for a few more months. I'm supposed to move in to my new house in January and get the body back from welding and epoxy at the end of March. Once I have it back I will take it back off the frame and start the engine/transmission transplant. This will give me time to install the new 4 post lift and start getting the parts out of the donor.

Who ended up converting your transmission to 2wd and how much did it cost? I have to do the same thing but it already has the upgraded servos and a 3200 stall. Anyways, I need a parts list of whats required if you have it. I can get it done locally once I have the parts. Probably save me some $$$.
