Any Idaho people know this truck?
http://eastidaho.craigslist.org/cto/2645324173.html
I've been looking into this truck, but there are a few flags that I'm seeing based on the pictures he's sent. Looks like the bumper and grill surround are probably from a 70 or earlier truck as the turn signals are strapped behind the newer style grille. In the larger res pics the emblems are readable as Cheyenne 20 Super (which obviously wasn't from a shortbox). The cab does appear to be a 72 as the rearview mirror is mounted to the windshield at least. All in all it appears to have been patched together a bit by someone. That doesn't necessarily bother me as much as the possibility of it having been shortened. I'm still waiting for pics of the SPID sticker and VIN tag, but thought I'd post on here and see if anyone happens to have any first-hand knowledge of this particular truck. |

I went ahead and uploaded the higher res pictures to my flickr accout:

Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
John Day is Central OR unless you live in the valley then EVERYTHING is Eastern!
Lot of money. Why no pics of the interior, engine compartment and bed? |
Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
If john day is central then that makes me central too cuz he's farther east than I am! I am not prepared to revoke my eastern oregon status. :)
(on another useless note, I used to play against grant union HS in baseball) |

Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
Just checked the Vin on the truck and it does code out as a 1972 1/2 ton 4x4. At least that much is right... Hopefully I'll get a picture of the SPID tonight to see if it is actually a shortbox or not.

You guys made me google the state and I must say that I was way off. I was certain that Herm was must farther East than JD but that is just not accurate. Beautiful country around there. Full of big bulls and mulies! I guess Prinetucky is the last city East that can be still called Central OR. |
Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
Eh... I'll skip the Cali trip I think. It hasn't been so long that I have forgotten how much I hate it there. It isn't so much the size of Bend as the some of the people that you run into. My wife bought an H2 and had it over there one weekend for a wedding that she was hired to photograph. She had no less than three people yelling crap at her at stoplights about how she should feel guilty for helping to destroy the environment. One guy is was in a brand new Porsche, and the other two were driving newer pickups. No joke.
Don't feel bad about not knowing the layout of Eastern vs Central Oregon. At least you knew there WAS an Eastern Oregon! And I like the Prinetucky name.... :) |
Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
Bend is certainly diverse. West side gets a little snooty. Most of the people are still very down to Earth. I think a lot of the snoots leave when the weather changes and head back to Cali.
Our environment is very important and we need to manage it well. This is why every time P.I.T.A. saves 10 animals, I agree to kill only one (hunting). lol I couldn't imagine if they expanded the DEQ out here......it would leave me with just a bicycle to ride around on. I'm pretty sure most of my stuff isn't so clean burning! |
Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
When valley people ask me where I'm from, I say "eastern oregon" cuz I am pretty sure they have no idea where my little hick town is. 99% of the time they say "you mean from around bend?" Then I give the obligatory geography lesson.
I went to community college in bend from 93-95. I liked it because of the easy access to snowboarding. Best thing that comes out of that town now is deschutes beer. |
Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
If my memory of how Idaho licence plates work, that truck is registered in Bonneville County, which includes Rexburg and Idaho Falls. I'm sure there are members here from both. IIRC, the 8B signifies that it is from the 8th county that starts with the letter B, in alphabetical order.

Re: Any Idaho people know this truck?
Got a few more pictures tonight. The title and cab match, but no SPID sticker to be found... Just too far of a drive for me to not be sure its a shortbox. And they want more than I'd be willing to pay anyway. Might just fall back to plan B and redo the stepside we already have... :)
