My new bench console
I found this on Amazon. (It is also made in the USA!) Console has 2 good sized compartments under the padded armrest, one will hold a 6-pack of your favorite (non-alcoholic) beverage, the other looks like it would hold CDs. I was thinking of putting my CD player in this.
Before & After: http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m.../interior2.jpghttp://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m...04/console.jpg I think I want to install some adhesive backed velcro to help hold it in place, unless someone has another good suggestion. |
Re: My new bench console
Post a link I would like to get one for my work truck.

Re: My new bench console
For some reason amazon won't let me link directly to the site. So, go here http://www.amazon.com/ and in the search bar copy & paste (or type) TSI Products 30011 Clutter Catcher Black Bench Seat Console

Looks good but pricey. I wonder about the stability of drinks in the cupholder.
I have one that goes on the floor hump in front of the seat for storing stuff and for drinks I made my own for easier reach. |
Re: My new bench console
Haven't tried any drinks in it yet. No room for a hump console for me. I just spent $250 on parts to replace my rear wheel bearings, so that console was cheap by comparison!
I like your cupholder 68gmsee. |

Webfoot, how is it held in place? Could you show more....it does look nice in your truck!

Re: My new bench console
Why not screw or bolt a tongue of sheet metal to the back of the console..
The metal you could cover with fabric or foam to protect the upholstery, and force it in between where the seat bottom meets the back.. protruding slightly behind the seat. The pressure would hold it in place and keep it from slipping.. and then you could bend the protruding part up against the seat back so it wouldn't come out.. Just a thought. J. |

I will say this, it is a little tight if you have a 4-spd and try to put it in reverse. I like the idea of the sheet metal mounting bracket. |
Re: My new bench console
Looks like you could screw a strap to the bottom of it and wrap the strap all the way around the bench seat bottom to tie it down.
