the speedo won't show on my 2001 GMC Yukon XL, is this something on the trans or in the dash? Everything in the dash works except the speedometer. thanks

Does the trip odometer & odometer work? If it does the speedometer head "stepper motor" is bad.....Rebuild or replace cluster

If the trip & odometer does not work & the transmission is shifting.....You have a wiring problem between the PCM & cluster.

trany shifts fine it is just.
my mistake when I say the speedo quite the speed part works it is just the odometer that doesn't show mileage. if you play with it long enough you can sometimes see the #'s for a bit but it is far and in between and for our state inspection they put the mileage on the inspection paper work.

The problem is in the cluster. They fail you because of this?

in NC for state inspections if the mileage doesn't work they have us enter all 0's in the mileage section on the computer

yes they want the mileage as when you go to sell it you have to sign what the mileage is but you can guess but they don't like that.

Interesting, In Texas the mileage is exempt after 10 years when doing a title transfer. & inspection stations dont much care about anything;)
