Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Hey man, looking great. Here's my 72 K10 rebuild thread. Mine's stuck at the body shop for awhile, LOTS of rust which is all gone, but now it's getting all the parts to line back up aka corner panels,doors,rockers...Good luck with yours and i'll keep an eye on your thread too http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=478703

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Didn't get much done this weekend, last night's wedding kicked my **s. Started to remove more parts from my truck getting her ready to remove the cab so I can send the frame etc to blast and powder coat.
http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0148.jpg Amazing how several years of off-roading ruins what was once nice and shinny http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0149.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0150.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0151.jpg I spent a little bit of time cleaning my other frame off this morning, it's been collecting some dust inside the 10x20 canopy that's been concealing it for about a month now. Guess this is what happens when you take on too many projects simultaneously :metal: http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...830_182917.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...830_182926.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...a/IMG_0154.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...830_182602.jpg This is my brother's Chevelle that I've been working on also, http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...e/IMG_1525.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...002_140452.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...002_140711.jpg |

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Not much progress lately
http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0235.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0236.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0237.jpg the radio cut out was about 3/8" too big all the way around, tried to get a double din deck in but I would have had to delete the ash tray and that wasn't an option. so, single din it is. http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0239.jpg Fuel filler neck is gone http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0241.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0243.jpg Doors where ready for wet sanding, then I noticed the primer bubbling up, the metal looked solid but somehow it looked like bondo bliste4rs even though there was no filler. Had to cut all 4 corners and tig in new sheet metal http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0432.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0433.jpg Another set back but got it done in less that 3 hours http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0434.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0435.jpg Inside of the doors where already painted, oh well, need to re-shoot them again http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0438.jpg New metal tigged and all smoothed out, ready for wet sanding now http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0443.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0447.jpg Tailgate is ready to wet sand http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0452.jpg Firewall is ready to wet sand and shoot http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0453.jpg |

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Thanks, I should have the bed floor cut and welded up today, I'm shooting to have the spray on bed liner sprayed on today as well, only problem is that some of my neighbors get on the phone and call the cops on me due to the noise. No fun. I've been going at it since July 4th when I started on my Nova's frame off, they are a bit tired of me now:metal: FKM

Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
She's ready for paint on Friday, if the paint booth is available.
http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0489.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0493.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0494.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0495.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0498.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0506.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0507.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0508.jpg My frame is still not quite ready for powder coat, I still need to finish squaring it up a bit more. Looks like I will send it out next week and just switch frames before cut and buff. I hope Friday is a go, it's supposed to rain this weekend, that will put a hold on paint. |
Re: 72 K10 Frame Off
Painted the truck yesterday, got home too late to post pics. Hope you like them, she's still on the long bed frame, waiting to fix her original frame.
First thing in the morning http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0511.jpg masking process in the booth, amazing how long this takes http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0515.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0524.jpg first coat on the bed http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0533.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0537.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0538.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0545.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0561.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0564.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0567.jpg My reflection on the front bumper  http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0594.jpg Leaving the paint booth http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0596.jpg Everyone at the paint shop kept asking why she looked so awkward, I had to keep telling them that it's a short bed truck body on a long bed frame due to a bent frame. http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0597.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0598.jpg http://i1225.photobucket.com/albums/...k/IMG_0599.jpg |
