Headers on the 2011 GMC

I just put a set of Kooks Long tube headers with their catted 'Y' tube on the GMC SWB. There is a serious difference in performance and sound. I think that this was definitely a good install. The factory system is so inefficient in comparison.

I have not been on a dyno with the truck for actual numbers, but the "seat of the pants" and the acceleration ability tells me that I have opened up the exhaust to allow for a more aggressive acceleration capability. The truck now makes more use of the aftermarket air intake that I put on and the two are now working together much better. It is surprising the amount of restriction the manufacturers put into these vehicles.

There are no gasket leaks and I don't there will be in the future either. The headers came with a set of aluminum gaskets for the engine ports and the lower connections are all a "ball and socket" design. All of the bolts have locknuts to maintain the tightness in them.

I just ordered a set for my 6.2 Silverado Friday, hearing good things makes me all the more anxious to put them on

Are you going to install them yourself? I have a two post oift and it made a world of difference in getting mine done. There are a few tough access bolts that you will have to deal with. I have pretty good selection of tools, but found that I needed to expand my collection some. Most nuts are metri (of course) and using a socket set to gdet at them was not always available. I now have a bigger selection of metric combination wrenches. The new design ratchet box end wrenches is now in my tool box. There were a couple bolts on the exhaust manifolds to the 'Y' pipe were hard to get access to and the rear head bolts for each of the exhaust manifolds.

Yeah i'm going to be putting them on myself, my truck is lifted 8" so I have a lot of room underneath to work, may have to add some tools to my collection, which i'm considering a plus, thanks for the heads up and info
