That is cool. Front wheel drive, pretty good in the snow and good traction under your big block lite weight engine, very good gas milage and those cars drive pretty good. Should be fun. I like it.

Re: something different on ebay ....
It looks good. I don't know about the front wheel drive and I don't like the exhaust through the bumper.

Nice truck, It would be cool to see the expression on peoples faces if you were to light em up at a stop sign.

Re: something different on ebay ....
20 some years ago when I lived in Vegas I used to see an old chevy truck that had a toronado setup under the flat bed. Sharp truck ! Lots of chrome , wide tires, License plates read "fun 51 ".
|
Re: something different on ebay ....
I think I would get another engine/transaxle and stick it in the bed! 4 wheel drive, 4 wheel disc brakes, 4 wheel independent suspension.

Re: something different on ebay ....
I remember this set up in a blown Chevelle back in a late 80's Hot rod or Car Craft magazine.....I didn't get that one either, I guess I just like the drive axle where it belongs.

Re: something different on ebay ....
A guy near me did one like that about 15 years ago. You couldn't tell it was not stock just looking at it.
Open the hood it was a little hacked. But he said it got 22 MPG. |
Re: something different on ebay ....
I'd like to see some details on the underside. It's one of those "on the fence" kind of things with me. Different, interesting, and neat, but I dont think I would want it as my primary collector and weekend driver. What might even had been more interesting would be to have used a diesel toronado. This 455 ci with the front wheel drive is the same setup that GM used on their RV's in the mid seventy's so this one should have all the power you'd ever want!
I noticed the door panels are made of solid wood. Has anyone else done this? I've thought of doing it, but I'm afraid of it turning out a lil gawdy? |
Re: something different on ebay ....
Looks like a nicely done build...but why?
I like my tire smoke behind me. :burnout: |
Re: something different on ebay ....
Id love to smoke the tires at a stop light an watch people scratch there heads:D

Re: something different on ebay ....
back in the 70's 80's it was a common conversion for cabover ramp trucks never seen a light duty pickup tho

Re: something different on ebay ....
just can you CAN do something doen't mean you SHOULD do something
|
Re: something different on ebay ....
It's definitely different. Something about the front wheel drive aspect doesn't sit well with me, and I'm not a huge fan of how they mounted the din head unit and left the factory as well. But it has some really nice bodywork and seems like good craftsmanship.

Re: something different on ebay ....
Man!!! I wish i could have seen this one!!!!
Lately i have wondered if it be possible to use the cad/olds FWD set up on a 67-72 suburban so i could ditch the rear axle for one of those step axle or an axle less hub in the rear. That way i could step down the floor a few inches to accommodate my grandpa' in his wheel chair. |
Re: something different on ebay ....
I've seen a square bdy done like that. The difference wa that the bed was a low b0y twin axle car hauler with dovetail.IIRC it had truck bags under it and could be aired up front and down rear to load without ramps.
