Here are two more shots of the same truck. I don’t remember where they came from either, but I believe the person that posted them said the crash happened when the truck was nearly new, and the driver somehow survived:

The only conceivable answer is the white lettered tire was installed years later, when someone traded it for the mint condition original wheel and tire that was on the truck and needed for a restoration project!

I think I posted those pics here maybe a year ago?, I got them off the hamb, and there were also some pics of a 56 chevy stockcar in the same spot that I saved as well... can't remember what thread they might have come from though.... did have info about the crash in the thread.
seemed to remember that the truck was nearly new when crashed and the guy lived through it...

If it was new when this happened, then the guy was really anal about preserving the pristine seat with a cover, As for the front wheel someone could have twisted the original out then twisted the replacement in to help support the front bumper that's bent into the wheel. LOL Hard to believe that little sapling did all that damage! Think I saw that ad when it was being parted out " Running when parked". LMAO :)

Is that not the drivers door laying on the ground beside the cab to the right of the front wheel?

As for the hood, the latch let go, the hood sprang up breaking the first four hood spring bracket bolts blinding the driver who careened through the forest striking that sapling to the right. The driver, who playing with a party balloon filled with the castoffs of his beard he had just clipped thus the first hairbag but it didn't catch on, without seat belts slammed into the steering wheels to which was ejected though the windshield striking the hood which then broke the last two remaining hood spring bracket bolts. As the driver and hood were catapulted from the truck, the hood flipped over and the driver was lucky enough to land in the inverted 61 hood feet first into the hood pods and slid down the mountain side for a mile or two until his sweat shirt caught midway up his back and tore a flap that came to rest on his head along with the remnants of his boot lace that wasn't tied. Thus the invention of the Hoodie was born and today the guys a billionaire with droopy pants without a belt and a chain that holds his wallet in place cause we know how often our wallets fall out of oversized pockets that are about knee level and when you go to dig something out of them you have to bend over showing everyone that you are wearing large labelled underwear or better yet a man thong which now plumbers wear to show more of their but crack.

The hood design was changed in 62 after Chevrolet investigated this accident and found that the front of the 61 hood had gotten pinned under the Corvette that was at the bottom of the mountain and had created the wedge design, and the rest as they say gentlemen, is GM history!

I can't find my pics or post about it, a guy was asking where it was, and the atlanta area seems like where it was sitting... sometimes I will put a description of info I want to save in the pic title, but all I put (on markbe's pics) was -vs- 18 wheeler... as I think aboutit more 1971 comes to mind, which would better explain the tire and seat cover...

here is the 55 chev that is parked with it...

Rome Ga. on the back of that 55, can't be that far from home. I really like all the holes drilled out of the roof on that 55 to ventilate the cab, looks cool and functional. Thank's Jonz as always for sharing the pictures.

Made Me cry! If I can ever find that ol truck I will try and buy it! Seriously. I want to see what I can pick and pull from it. And then just put it in the hayloft with the rest of my mangled cabs and frames.
