New to the site
Hello All,
I am new to the site and I have a 68 swb that i am starting to restore. I was wondering if anyone has attempted to lower their bench seat. I want to keep the original look but i want the seat to sit lower in the cab. Anyone have any ideas. |
Re: New to the site
Probably have to section out the risers that the seat tracks sit on. I have seen it done on some trucks using different year seats and mounts. I would be careful if you are tall though. If you normally run the seat all the way back, as most do, and you move the seat down, the back of the seat would probably start to tip forward from hitting the back of the cab or tank.
BTW - welcome to the board. It is a great resource and the members are 10's! |

Some of the seats have shorter risers than others but for the life of me I can't remember what determines this, year or type of seat... I will see if I can remember to take some pictures of the difference in the morning. Oh, and welcome to the board... LockDoc |

Ok, I went out and took a couple of pictures. The front on these seat risers/adjusters are the same height but the backs are different. If you swapped them out all it would do is lower the back of the seat. If you look at the labels on the pictures the metal panels on the back of the seat frame are different. I would guess that the seats are from different manufacturers but it may also be a year specific thing. It could also be the difference between the deluxe (full foam seat) and the standard seat. If anyone knows for sure post it up on here... I don't know for sure what years these seats/adjusters are out of. Anyway replacing the taller ones with the lower ones wouldn't really lower the seat. Re: New to the site
Thanks for the help. I may just put this plan on hold for a bit until i can find a way to do it correctly. I was hopping it was going to be as easy as just notching out the brackets and welding them back together. Thanks again for all the help.

Welcome!! From just a short hop down the road.I have later model seats in mine but it's all different than a pick up.I built the risers from Angle and square tube to fit "Mitsubishi"(I think) seats in mine. They were way too shor and needed the boost.
