key switch tumbler loose

The key tumbler in my ignition switch works fine, but the problem is I can just pull it out with the key! Kinda like an anti theft device I guess lol....What holds the tumbler into the housing for the ignition switch? Thanks

Re: key switch tumbler loose

There should be a pin hole next to the key hole.
with the key in and positioned at the acc position, stick a paperclip (or a chunk of mig wire)into the hole to unlatch the barrel.

I saw the "paper clip trick" when I searched, does that secure the tumbler too?

I have the same problem, but haven't worked to fix it, if it can be. I bought the matched set of door locks, ignition, and glove box from classic. The tumbler comes out, the glove box is stuck locked, and the door lock button rusted right away. Disappointing!

Thank you. I don't have a problem getting it out. My problem is it comes out all the time. I'll play around with it.

after you have a paper clip in the small hole press in on it and then trurn the key. that will lock it in place.
