Wipers
What's up guys I have a problem with my wipers. Every time j turn on my truck the wipers go on. They just turn once but it gets old every time I turn on the truck does anyone know how to fix this? I recently had my steering colum fix due to that the steering wheel was loose thought this would fix the problem but it still does it. Since I got the truck a year ago I can't solve the problem. Has anyone had this problem if so what did u do to fix it

Re: Wipers
It's an 85 it has the switch on the colum. When I turn on the truck they just wipe once then it quits.

Re: Wipers
mine does tha same thing but worse, it started out like yours but has progressed to flipping the turn signal up and down franticly to get it to work or keep working
you need a new wiper switch in the column to fix this since the contacts are corroded from age/moisture/wear etc idk why but these trucks have this problem |
Re: Wipers
a temp fix i did was a switch run off the wiper fuse, when mine kept going and going
i've seen issues from dirt and things outs wack under the wiper motor cover and the copper ground strap,if it's done your gona need to make a ground and check the thin connection from the coloum stick may break there |
Re: Wipers
Something like that was happening to me. It was driving me nuts. Sometimes out of the blue they would start "wiping" lol. I thought it was the switch that broke, but I took the steering column apart to see it and nothing. And it was so random when it happened that I couldn't link it to anything else, until one time that I was driving in the rain. I had the switch to on, and they were working, then it stopped raining and I turned them off. They turned off at first, but then they started up again and the switch was still in the off position. I drove like that because I couldn't pull over and unplug the little wiper motor under the hood (which is what I had started to do) since I was in a busy road, but when I pulled up to a stop light they stopped. Turns out that the wires under the steering column got caught where the clutch rests/stops so it started to pinch them. there was a small cut on them and were making contact which caused them to turn on. When I stepped on the clutch the wires were released and stopped making contact so they stopped. I fixed that now and got some zip ties and tucked them out of the way.
