71 blazer double wall hard top question
Hey guys, I am moving more than half way across the country to denver and am at odds with this hard top.
I don't know what to do with it. I have a soft top on my blazer and the windshield frame is rotten to the point I can't bolt it on anyways. Is there even a market for these things? I hate to trash any old iron parts. Is it because I am in NY and there aren't any blazers or jimmy owners here anymore? I know mine is the only one I have seen in 10 years here. |
Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
Put it on craigs list for free you will find someone that wants it.

Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
I may be interested in it depending on what kind of shape it is in. Mine needs some patching.

Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
In my area, people are trying to get big dollars for them. There's 2 on craigslist that are being listed for 500 and 650...they've both been for sale for many months now, but they don't seem to drop their price when listing.

Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
I'm surprised you survived the New York winters with a soft top, you are tougher than I am
You might want to hang onto the hardtop. Once you get West of the Mississippi and see all the rust free sheetmetal out here, you'll probably find a solid rig to stick it on and get rid of the rusty one ;) |
Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
Ah the blazer sat covered for most of the 10 years I was here. I hate mud and no one in NY is willing to really let people wheel on their property so it sat aside from the few trips to PA, paragon, rausch creek etc.
The blazer is mostly rust free. I already did floor pans and rockers 12 years ago, the windshield I just put off until I get back west. I thought about just finding another one but I have done too much to this one now. It's got a totally built roller motor, 1 tons, crossover, hydro assist, all new wiring, yada yada. The windshield frame will be easy if just decide to never use a hard top again. Then I can just make my own repair panels without mounts for the hard top. I can find a hard top out west much easier if I ever change my mind and am just really limited on what I am willing to haul BACK across the country again. I would much rather someone on the east coast put a clean working top to good use. |

Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
I live outside of Colorado Springs and I bought a '72 Blazer this past Saturday (on my birthday)! It's very rough, but has a number of new parts and new tires, etc. Unfortunately it came without a top and I'm going to be looking for one. Too bad you don't want, or aren't really able, to bring the top you have back out to Colorado!

Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
Personally I would keep the top. Once it's gone, it will be hard to replace. Just my .2cents

If you ever go to sell the blazer years down the road, it would pay to keep the top, even if you don't use it. Alot of potential buyers would see that as another huge hurdle if the top were gone. |
Re: 71 blazer double wall hard top question
Well, I may have found another top. Have a friend who's doing bodywork on another guy's K5. The new owner wants the soft top that came with it and not the hard top. It looks like it's going to be brought to Colorado from its current location and I may get it fairly cheap! Have to see how this works out!
