Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

Ok so I got my new angle grinder yesterday and this morning I jumped right too it! i installed my new diamond cutting blade and started cutting out the rusty floor pan, grinding it down, and test fitting...I am actually waiting on new pan support beams so I cant install it yet but I got a good amount done. After all the cutting and grinding I decided to remove the kenwood Cassette deck and replace it with a JVC cd player I had running around. I also removed the speaker amp and rewired the whole sub/speaker system...Enjoy the pics :)

Your pictures scare me. How did you get that much rust in Nashville? It must be a rust belt import.

That's typical for one of these.

Yeah, the inner rocker and out rocker has some holes in it but i grinded the inside and it still has a lot of good metal...So before I put everything in place Im going to put some rust proofing stuff on it all

wondering if it would be worth bringing a cali truck back east to sell, I feel for you all trying to fix rust like that.

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

My truck was brought in from Cali, the only rust it had was a coin sized hole at the bottom of the rear fender. If the PO had bothered to straighten the fender out after hitting somthing with it it would not have had any rust.
I have restored a feve of cars that looked like what Jranger is up against now, and man am I glad that I got my self a rust free truck this time.
Good luck with your project Jranger, it will be a nice truck when itīs done

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some

WOW, mine is really not that bad.....Its just the floor pan and floor pan support thats the main problem...Body of the truck is pretty solid and no dents so :)

Not exactly sure what they're called, but I think LMC has them. The door panels are plastic. I'd use SEM paint, it's worked wonders for me and lots of others on here.

Well the supports are a pain in the butt! Couldnt undo the bolt so i had to notch the supports to go around them....Everything is secured with self taping screws for now until i get my buddy to weld them in...

Re: Started Repairing Floor Pans + Some
