Dana 40 6 lugg question.

I have a chance to get a set of 6 lugg dana 40s a guy took off of a early 70s blazer. Will they bolt up to my 84 K1500 in place of my 10 bolt and are the u-joints the same? Thanks.

Re: Dana 40 6 lugg question.

dana 44 you mean?

front?

If so then it should line up but the tube of the axle could be smaller so you will need the u-bolts and top plate. Do you have a sway bar? That could cause issues if you have to swap plates.

Yes, that is what I ment to say. My eyes weren't quite open all the way. If the deal works out I will have the whole Blazer for parts. Which is another can of worms. If that this is worth a crap "and he says it isn't" I would be tempted to build that instead.

why change anything then? dana44 and 10-bolt are "nearly" the same axle. unless your is broken...
