thanks, as of now its got a stock 350 with a 292 cam, weiend intake and 650 holley carb. granny 4 speed trans and 3.73 rear gears. not sure of exactly how much its lowered but i just cut all the springs. 2 full coils off the front and cut off the bump stops and cut 2 full coils off the rear. thinking about taking one more coil off the rear but not sure yet.

Wow that’s amazing to see a short stepside pickup purchased by the military with a V8 engine. Every light pickup I encountered in the Marines (Navy equipment) always came with a six cylinder stick shift. Even many of the staff/passenger cars had a six with a standard transmission. Of course the Air Force always did get better stuff than we did (seriously)! Also interesting, that appears to be a 1960’s vintage Sun tachometer bracket on the dash board. It wouldn’t surprise me to find that was also added during its military career. It’s not uncommon for company vehicles to get “fixed up” by enthusiastic enlisted personnel, or modified for a specific purpose by local command.

Have fun with your project.

C'mon, you should know air force always gets more money.... :)

No kidding, the Air Force always got the best stuff. We could barter for their stuff. Anything else had to be "redistributed" from a different branch (so long as you didn't get caught).
