My DD LWB to SWB build

hey whats up guys i say its time time to start my build it was given to me by my father the truck is a 87 lwb 350 tbi all electric inside, has factory A/C, truck runs good but im not a lwb guy its waaayyyyyy to long lol so my plans are to cut the frame down and make it a swb gonna take out 14'' out of the middle and 3'' out of back i gather all the parts already so lets start, my plans are to paint it factory white again with a 4/6 or 5/7 drop and drive the heck out of it since its gonna b my DD i want the truck to come out when its done just like Classic87/Anthonys truck

i took 14'' out then brought everything together trust me i measured it like 20 times b4 i made my cuts lol sorry the welds look ugly but they will hold lol after the grinding it down they came out nice and i put 2 plates inside the frame to reinforce it

I don't wanna down you. Overall good job but damn, those welds make me cringe... Its hard to believe they have great penetration/strength looking like that

Re: My DD LWB to SWB build

wow, you conquered the frame shortening....i cut my 67 and had a guy weld it for me. i took about 2 hours to measure and remeasure and look at it at all angles and check it again, etc. took 2 mins a side to cut it....lol....20 mins for the guy to weld it. if its not too inconvienient, cut a couple 3 x 3 or 3 x 4 squares out of flat stock and weld them over your cuts. this will help spread the stress of the welds....extra insurance!

got you bookmarked....good job so far.

Looks good -

I'm not so sure about that "helper"; appears inquisitive, but I like my helpers to have opposable thumbs....

It's drive good but tire rubs a lil when I turn so might go with a smaller tire up front thinking about 255/60/15 and plan on c notching the rear cuz on bumps I bottom out and I wanna lower the back a lil more lol

with 255/60/15 up front from the ground to the wheel opening 26in and it looks like they don't hit in the rear 28in.

on my truck i cut my front springs I'm hoping to run 275/60R 15 front and rear

Re: My DD LWB to SWB build

Hey whats up guy havent got that much done on the truck lately but I did dye my door panels black
and I put the stock springs in the front back in I cut one full coil off the reason I did that was because everywhere I went I was bottoming nout or rubbing the tires when I turn it rides so much better now
