I moved mine under the bed. I made my bed tilt for easy access.

Hey Kim:

I like that and saw it on your build. What is the down side if any?

The only down side and it really wasn't that bad is running the extra lines up the frame. I just used some 1/2" brake lines. I'll have to be a little creative with the exhaust but don't see any problems there either.

Re: Hydro Boost Pics

I would be concerned with the push rod flexing to much or bending during a panic stop and the excess stress on the threaded connector at the end near the boost unit. Most all the long brake rods I have seen are pull type not push type.

Putting 2 heim joint along the rod would help a great deal with the flex. Putting one at the booster next to the connector and one mid way on the rod.

I was worried about this also so i talked ton an engineer about it.
The rod is 3/4" seamless. I doubt I will have the strength to flex it.
If I do I will just step up to some 1" and that should cure any problem.

Kim where did you get the bracket for the pedal and is it a stock pedal?

Any ideas on how to make it a pull system?

I got it from these guys as a unit. Couldn't find a stock one anywhere.

To make it a pull type would require 2 pivots, one at each end. The picture is a little crude but rods A & C are short push rods and B is the long pull rod.

Pivots 1 and 2 have the push rods attached at the top and the pull rod at the bottom and of course they have a center pivot. The pivot center is attached to the frame or a bracket that is very stable. It would take some fab work but solves the problem of the rod possibly bending under a panic stop situation.

Have you ever done it and do you have pictures?

I haven't had a need to do a setup like that but I do have a Harley trike in the shop that uses a similar pull rod setup. I can snap a few pics and post them

Here is a few pictures of the rod setup on the Harley. Its really the same idea on any remote cylinder that 2 or more feet away.

not very good pictures, but...
this is a 03 mustang hydroboost installed under floor using the stock swing arm and pedal.

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...e/IMG_0275.jpg

no hoses in this picture and i installed a remote reservoir on it.
the mustang mc tank has the same fittings in the mc as the mercury villager minivan with remote reservoir.
i pulled the tank off, inserted the adapter fittings and used the villager reservoir mounted on my firewall.

this is the bracket i made to mount it.
after i fabbed it up a made a 3/8'' boxing plate to weld to my frame with bolt holes tapped in it so i could unbolt the whole bracket if needed.

Re: Hydro Boost Pics

did you just use flat metal stock and a piece of angle iron on the bracket? thank you for the info on the remote reservoir. i was wondering how i was going to fill it once i installed it on the frame. i am using a hydroboost out of a 2003 suburban

Re: Hydro Boost Pics

the pic of the bracket is just tack welded, look at the first pic and you can see the gussets i added.
i used a piece of 4x4x3/8 angle with one leg cut mostly off for the bracket.
i used a piece of 3/8 flat to weld on the frame with threaded holes to mount the bracket angle.

Can you show us a pic if you have one? Which Mustang year and model did you get the remote reservoir from?

Thanks

Here’s my set up, hydro boost from a suburban and the cover is off an older van
I put a 3/16 plate in the frame first then a made up another 3/16 plate to hold the booster
The two arms that come out are ½ x 2 flat bar
Then 3/16 gusset to tie it all together
I built my booster mount in lots of pieces so I could have some adjustability when test fitting
As for filling the reservoir or topping it up it should only be done every once in a while, any more then that I got bigger issues to deal with

Re: Hydro Boost Pics

this is off an 03 cobra, the cobra had a bigger motor that interfered with the vacume booster used in the gt.

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...c/IMG_0273.jpg

from this side you can see how it bolts to the 3/8'' plate welded on the frame.
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...c/IMG_0272.jpg

http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...c/IMG_0270.jpg

i don't have any pics of the remote reservoir, the plastic tank pulls off the mc.
there are rubber inserts that hold the tank in, these stay in the tank.
http://i306.photobucket.com/albums/n...c/IMG_0274.jpg

the mercury villager or nissan quest have a different mc but it has a remote reservoir and plastic inserts that go in the mustang mc.
this website shows all the parts needed from the donor vehicle, any yr 98 to 02.
46090 is the tank, 46020n is the plastic insert needed to go into the mustang mc.
i found 1/2'' teflon lined ss braided hose from a hydraulic hose supply house, it barely fit but it fit.
the hose listed for $9/ft, the counterman was a car guy who new about our shop, he sold me 8 ft for $18. :D
i'm sure there are other hoses that will work but my research showed that teflon was impervious to brake fluid.

the factory five guys use the same mc and hydroboost and it is located way under the fender.
i found the remote reservoir info in a factory five site.
