Looking for a basic air bag kit for my 65 stepside

Been searching like crazy here but since I have very little knowledge of air suspension I am still very lost. I am looking for a basic stock location airbag kit for my step side 65. Don't mind converting rear to disc or changing to higher lug count if I have to but I would like to just keep the stock control arms. I am not looking to make a show truck just something that can get as close as possible to the ground (love to lay frame but that looks like it cost a lot more than I am willing to spend). Rear is leaf springs and front is obviously coil. I would like a side to side movement, front, rear and up and down. Basically I would like to get bumpers and doors as low as possible with out all the fancey parts. Just want and nice very low hot rod that I can raise and lower at will. I don't mind piecing it all together, but a kit would be a lot easier to me. I took a look at brothers trucks but the tank and little parts don't seem up to par. From searching around I need at least a 5 gallon tank. My budget is a max of 2k as I need to save up to fix everything that the thieves messed up after they stole my truck. Anything helps guys. This was my first vehical so I am looking to finish what I started before she was stolen from me. Not sure what exact info is needed so sorry if I left out some obvious info. I am coming off from a fresh 87 mustang big block build so my Chevy truck knowledge is very rusty haha.

With that budget you should be able to get a nice kit and still be under budget. Bag plate and cups up front @$300 with the bags. Rear bags @$150. You can do the accuair UV4 air manifold all day long for $450. You can do an AVS switch box for $120 and wire it in @$50 for fittings and air line. $150 viair compressor and @$80 for tank and your set. That's about $1300 for some nice stuff.
I just sold all my used stuff for $800, you can also find a used deal like that.

Call Justin at Scott's hot rods and he can set you up with what you need.

Welcome to the forum Lowandwide65. You have come to the right place in your quest for air suspension. I suggest you drill down through the threads in this forum and aqqaint yourself with the procedure.

Take a look in our Suspension Marketplace and Vendor Marketplace for some good deals. We have several vendors here that can help you through the process.

As mentioned by N2TRUX there are several vendors and just as many options. If you are loooking for a simple and clean air system that will allow you to stretch your budget, get in touch with Delmo (he's a vendor here on the forum). He has been using a pretty slick manual valve set-up that is pretty trick.

I've seen those the look slick. How fast do they flow? They look nice and simple to hook up, and the less wires the better. Lol

Ya thank you. I've been back and forth on just doing a normal lowering kit but air bags always seemed very appealing to me. Seems like a pretty straight forward install (well at least for what I will be doing). Not to mention the price to get it done is very nice on my wallet.

I do have one question for you guys. My truck has leaf spring in the rear. The few airbag kits I have seen are for coil spring. What do I need to do to run airbags in the rear? Been reading around but I am still lost on this one.

The answer will be based on how low you want to go. To lay frame, you're looking at a total redo in the rear, ditching the leafs all together. For a more mild set up, you can do an air over leafs, but you're still going to do all the typical things for a static drop on leafs (flip/drop shakels), but then add bags to the equation.

I was tooling around the porter built site and believe I am go with their deluxe kit. From adding front and rear I can come in at about 2k or a little more. Granted I still need the air equipment but their suspension parts look top notch and they advertise that you don't need to raise the wood bed floor.

Shoot me a PM with your number and I will give you a buzz tomorrow to discuss the different options, and answer any questions you might have.
