Wheel Question.
 

After finally getting things working the way I would like them to on my 66, i took it out for a spin, came back and sure enough the 15 year old dry rotted tires finally had enough and 3 of 4 were blasting air out the side walls. I have some tires from our SUV that had 16 inch tires on it since the rims are 16 on this. But I also found a set of rims from a 2001 Silverado that are 16'' and 6 lug, so my question is, will they bolt up or what modification would i need to make. Just curious.

I used something like these...4 wheel drums; used the spacers front and back. Changed out the centers for GMC caps

Those spacers allow the room for the wheels then right?

I have 235x70x16's and they fit; Yes. The 2" pushes the rims out I believe. I think these rims have more backspacing so you'd have fitment problems just bolting them on.

The fronts do bolt on, but would rub inside, so I have spacers up front.

One thing I wish to mention;
When I first did this, I had stock springs in back. No issues removing the tire. After I put in lowering coils(2-3" I think) , I recalled have a slight issue getting the back tires off. I did get it off; just don't remember how. I'll have to check that issue out again. I can take pics later if you'd like.

Well right now its sitting where she was from the factory so I will have room. I just wasnt sure if i had to put spacers like those int he link above, all the way around or not?

the centerbore of the new wheels is too small to bolt directly on, so spacers seems like the best way. there is a guy on ebay, wheeladapters was his user name, sold full sets of adapters/spacers for 160ish, that was three years ago. you will want the type of spacer that bolts to your studs and has 6 more studs to mount the wheel. If you try to use just a two inch spacer your studs will be really long.

plus those wheels are negative, or positive offset ( don't know which ) and our trucks originally came with the offset that is opposite of those wheels.
spacers would probably correct that.

Joedoh is correct about the wheels not bolting directly on.

I forgot that when I was going to do this "upgrade", I had the centers of the rims bored out to accomplish this "bolt-on" only to discover the backspacing placed the rim too close to the inside. I have these spacers front and back.

Also remember you need those lugnuts with the threads on the outside, to accept the center cap and attaching plastic lugnut covers. See some pics below;
