Changed my steering wheel over...
To a '66 Deluxe on my '65. Got the hornring from a member on the board, and the wheel off a really beat to hell '66 Suburban at Pick and Pull. Filled almost all the cracks with JB weld but not all of them, and painted it up with several coats. I hope it holds up. Didn't want it to be perfect so it'd match the rest of the interior. Here's the before and after:

That looks great - love the steering wheels in the trucks from these years. Curious about your stereo setup, is that a stained wood surround plate around your stereo? how bout some pics?

Re: Changed my steering wheel over...
Thanks guys, I think it turned out pretty good. My old one was alot thicker and still in great shape, but I like the horn ring. I painted it with Duplicolor Perfect Match Champagne Pearl, original Chrysler colors. Its real close and can be found easily at the parts store.
The radio is another story, its a Sapphire XIX am/fm radio out of a '72 vw beetle my grandpa put in years ago, complete with super deluxe and custom wood paneling faceplate! Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: Changed my steering wheel over...
post some pics of the radio in the dash if possible - and some external shots too - the fact that your Grandpa installed that radio makes it a cool history fact about the truck.
