Lowered truck & New Wheels size question
 

67' Chevy C10 LWB

I will be using,

4/6 Drop Kits (2.5" Drop Spindles, 1.5" Drop Front Coil Springs, 6" Rear Drop Coil Springs, 4 KYB Shock Absorbers, Super Track Bar Kit, Shock Mount Relocator Kit) (Drop Spindles require Disc Brakes)

Changing to disc's up front

With the 2.5" dropped spindles & 1.5" drop front coils springs

Can i use 17x8" Summit Legend wheels 5x5 with a 4.50" back space for the front (5 lug Disc brakes in front)

And 17x9" 5x5 with 5.00" back space in the Rear (i will change the rear axles to 5 lug)

I would like these wheels to fill the wheel wells, and do not want a lot of space between the inner fender and the tire/rim.

Any recommendations?

I have the same wheels, with the same back space on my truck and I will need a 1/2 spacer on the rear when I lower it.

You dont have any problem with the front hitting/rubbing.

But you have not lowered yours yet correct?

I was thinking of maybe going with the 2/4 drop and go a 17x10 in the rear

The reason I asked about the rubbing I have read on here that people rub with the lowered spindles,

That must be with a 15" rim running more back spacing maybe?

I am a new to getting the right parts the first time.

The front wheels will be fine. However, if you're still using a 63-70 rearend, they are more narrow than the 71-72 rearends, so the 5" bs on the rear wheels will be too shallow. My suggestion is to get 4.5" bs on the rear wheels(if available) or find a 71-72 5-lug rearend. The 5" bs will work fine with the later rear.

I have 275-50 on the rear, 255-50 front. you could get 1 1/2" spacer for the back.

Well I just checked the wheel sizes

They have a couple of sizes,

17x9" in a 5x5 - 5" BS OR
17x8" in a 5x5 4.5" BS

Anyone know how much narrower the 67' rear end is?

I like those rims maybe i will hunt down a rear end.

Too bad the rear end that is in in there is in good shape and low miles.

67-Early 70 year model is 55.5" plate to plate.
70 (Late) + is 57" plate to plate.

So, Matt is absolutely right. If you have the early rear end, you'll be .75" (.75 x2 sides 1.5" total) different than say someone with a 70+ truck and 5" BS wheel. Ex. IF you were to get 5" BS, the wheel would sit further under the truck as it would on a 70+ year model rear end (since the width of the rear end housing is shorter more narrow) If you got the 4.5" BS on and early rear housing it would sit almost the same as a late rear with 5" BS. With the same rear wheel width. The difference is the outside would look wider .. The wheel would still be 9" wide regardless in both scenarios. You're just offsetting the wheel to compensate the overall width of the rear fenders so the tires 'fill the wheel well properly' .. Make sense?

Also, I have a Percy's Wheelrite I am willing to lend out of you guys need it. It will measure the wheel backspacing perfectly. Just help me out on shipping and I'll loan it to anyone who needs it.

I'm looking at some 18x9.5, 5x5 bolt pattern wheels with a -4 offset. Will they work on my 1970 chevy truck?

That is some good Info, that gives me a better understanding of what is needed or can be done.

I may try to use longer Wheel Lugs and a 1/2" thick alum. spacer behind each wheel and see how that works.

I do Not want to go with a spacer.

I found some wheels that may work.

Truck will be Lowered to 3.5x5"

Stan at ECE suggested that i use the following Size rims and Back space for my 67'

I am going to use Centerline wheels,

Front 17x8" 5x5 4.50" Back Space
Rear 17x9.5" 5x5 4.50" Back Space

With those wheels your backspace 1/2" less, but your rearend is a 1/2" narrower, So there may still be an issue.

If i am 3" over all shorter on the 67' rear end.

Well I gain 1/2" on the back space and 1/2" on the wheel width going to a 9-1/2" wide wheel.

I guess i could try to find a 10" wide rear wheel with a 4.5" Back Space

That's 1" on each wheel, so that should take up 2".

I will be 1/2" short on each side.

I think that will be acceptable, considering that i will not have to change my rear end out.

If not then a 1/2" spacer.
