Has anyone travelled to Italy?

Hello everyone I am wanting information, photos, or advice from anyone that has travelled to Italy.

Where to stay? What to see and do? Travel tips? Guided tours or group travel?

I would like to honeymoon there if I can afford it. Don't congratulate me. I haven't proposed yet, don't have a ring yet, but do have a diamond for a ring. ;) Oh goodness, where am I going to come up with all of this money?

Thank you for your time and input!

Keith

We have friends that spend months at time over there, they have lots of family there. We decided to go this year because it sounds like a very cool place to visit. But with the crazy economy over in Europe and all the other labor type issues they are having we have decided to go back to Hawaii instead.

People I have talked to say there shouldn't be any problems, but I'm not taking a chance of getting caught up in a mess that strands us somewhere.

Rick Steves and other travel books are a really good idea on what to expect and where to go.Get the most updated version.Things change from year to year.Italy is great and way to many things to see. Vencie , Rome and Florence were my favorite. Pisa is a day trip from Florence. What you see in the picture of the leaning tower of Pisa is pretty much all you need to see there. Go from Florence to Pisa , take your picture and go back to Florence. Naples is a little grittier, but Pompeii is near by and Sorrento is a cool little town close by.Easy to get by with English. Enjoy your trip.

Been there twice. Loved both times. 1st time went with a buddy had no plans
just a euro rail pass. Missed lots of stuff because we didn't know what we were doing. Who knew the Vatican wouldn't let you in with shorts and tank top. Went back the next day waited in line forever and got in. Very cool!
2nd time in Italy I was with a tour group and went to the front of the line.
Suggest walking around for a great feel of the towns. Besides drivers there
are nuts! Seriously.

years ago i went on a Perillo Tour to northern Italy. It was great in the fact all meals and stuff was included and i swear everything that there was to see in Italy you saw. The issue was you were up early and were out late, and everything was like on the bus off the bus on the bus off the bus.. it was way too much for me..It was just to hectic i needed a vacation after the vacation

My wife & I are going to pay for a 7 week trip but don't get to go! Ya that's how I feel too. Our son is going to Florence to study abroad for 7 weeks in May.

My wife and my friend's wife went last summer, and the four of us went the spring before. Go to Tuscany. You can actually rent a house in the country relatively cheaply - look online. Rent a car and take driving tours. You drive on the same side of the road as us, so it's no big deal - just get one with GPS. Go with an appetite - the food there is incredible. It's not just pizza, though that is very good - all sorts of pastas, fresh bean soups, salads, everything super fresh and home made. Both Sienna and Florence are pretty cool and have some incredible architecture - seeing Michaelangelo's David was pretty cool. The euro is a little cheaper now so it's getting more affordable. Also, I would go in the spring - it's really hot in the summer and everything is overrun with tourists. Have fun and take pictures and post them!

You have to check out the City of Pompeii. I went there and it was cool. We even found the whore house. They acually had paintings above the rooms and rock beds. I guess they put hay down or something. http://touritaly.org/pompeii/pompeii-main.htm I have family there so it really dosn't cost us much to stay there plus my mom bought a house in her hometown that we can stay at.

I was on a crusise from Athens Greece that ended in Rome Italy. I would go to Italy again and spend some real time if I had the chance.
