s10 frame steering question

I was wondering what you guys on s10 frames used for a steering column. I don't want to use the factory s10 column. I would like to used either a ididit or a flaming river column. What also did you do for the steering joints.

Thanks,
Jason

Re: s10 frame steering question

i used the original 54 column cut to correct length and a bearing on the bottom. welded a u joint from it to a section of the s10 steering rod that attaches to the steering box.

Re: s10 frame steering question

i used a 67-72 chevy truck/van steering column. it fits the orignal steering column clamp for the ad trucks. if you look in my thread you will see. i modifyed the s10 lower steering shaft with the 67 upper piece. works great.

What turn signals did you use with the column?? And do you remember what column length you used?

And i think 30" or 32" column. I cut a broom handle down and bolted it to my wheel, sat in my truck with the wheel and make shift column where i liked it and measured how long of column i needed, to be comfortable and to get a straight shot to the steering box.

I used the stock '50 column in mine with U-joints connecting the 50 to the S-10 steering shaft. My turn signals are the same used by D-man313.

Thanks, I'm a bigger guy 6'2 and that column looked big to me. I have the original steering wheel and want to keep it. Will it fit on that column?
