Radiator Puzzle HELP!!

Ok I have a 1977 c10 with a stock 350 sbc. Can some one just tell me if I need a radiator with a 17 inch core or a 19 inch core. I measured the aftermarket one that came with my truck and if I measure it from the top of the fins to the bottom it is 16 inches if I include the the top and bottom surround pieces of the radiator it is 18 inches. So I am off one inch either way. I plan on getting a champion radiator or similar aluminum one. Please help so I can get this thing changed out.

This place shows the stock and different sizes that will fit your truck; http://www.radiatorbarn.com/search.php?product=radiator

Measure the core it's self without the tanks and upper/lower braces.....

Hi masterlock,

What style of top radiator mounting panel do you have?

The 17" high radiator uses a top plate that's sort of L-shaped. Look up part number 32-0982 in the LMC catalog for an illustration.

The 19" high radiator uses a top plate that's relatively flat. Look up part number 32-0984 in the LMC catalog for an illustration.

I think it's possible to use either size radiator in your truck so long as you use the corresponding top mounting panel. However, if your truck didn't originally have the 19" radiator, I think you'll have to add some nut-serts to the radiator support in order to bolt on the upper panel used with that radiator.

EDIT: I just took a look through your build thread pics and it looks like you've got the top plate for the 17" radiator. BTW nice work!!

Another issue with the 17" and 19" is that they also use different shrouds.
