No that would be black top :mm:

Re: do i have positrac
Very possible, put the truck on stands and rotate one wheel fast and if it grabs and starts to turn the other then it has a gov-loc in it, if so i wouldnt power brake it anymore or it will grenade.

^^ What he said^^
Another name for them is Gov Bomb. If you beat on it, you will find it's limits. |

Re: do i have positrac
I think the gov bomb is RPO G80 on the SPID label.

Re: woudl this be posi
Thats cruel^ lol and the burnout means nothing just that both tires broke loose, i dont have posi and sometimes ill get both tires breaking loose, just depends on the conditions.

Re: do i have positrac
The gov-loc in the 14-bolt is a completely different animal than the one in the 8.5" gov bomb. If it's a gov-loc, it will unlock before you get a lot of wheel speed, they're not designed to lock 'em both up all the time, just with different wheel speeds and only to a certain axle speed. After that, the counterweight swings out and unlocks it. That's why they suck for racing. I think that's what you have. An open diff will spin 'em both at times, but the road needs to be slick/wet.
Get the last 8 digits of your VIN, a parts counter guy at your local Chevy dealership should be able to look it up and tell you. |
Re: do i have positrac
well in my glove box it says gu6 and g80 but that it when it had the 10 bolt rear end in it someone changed the rear end in it out of 1992 chevy 3/4 so now it has that 14 bolt rear end so u think it has g80 in it
