Has anyone swapped to a different radio antenna
I have a 84 cc diesel with a windshield mounted antenna and would like to swap to a low profile one like on my scion xb because a non antenna windshield is much cheaper and I need a new one. Has anyone done such a swap?

Re: Has anyone swapped to a different radio antenna
Only one i have ever used is the universal fit masts that screw into the fenders.. years ago they had a shot rubber whip that was a universal fit that was never much good for city reception.. particularly on AM.. i use the all news station on AM so that antenna did not last long

Re: Has anyone swapped to a different radio antenna
you can go buy an aftermarket one or go to your local boneyard and get one off anouther car, just make sure it will work where you want to fit it. most aftermarket ones are pretty easy to install just pick your spot drill a hole slide the cable thru the hole tighten the bolt run cable inside the cab and hook up to the radio........they also make one that has like an L bracket mounted to the base that you screw to inside of the fender where the hood sits so you dont have to drill a big hole napa or prob any parts store should have them

I have seen aftermarket ones that although you to mount it jsut about any where you wanted. Its not the standard "whip" style thats on a fender, but just a bar you mount out of site
