Inner Fenders

I'm reassembling my truck, and I have to replace the inner fenders because mine are so rusty that they might as well not even be there.

So my question is... I see two things in the LMC catalog. A "Inner Fender", primed, for about $50.00 each. I also see a "Splash Shield" that is in the same shape, looks to be made from plastic, for about $15.00 each.

Can I get by with the splash shield, or is it a must to buy the inner fender?

This is on a 1986 single cab 4wd truck with a 4" suspension lift.

Thanks.

Re: Inner Fenders

well i don't have the lmc catalog in front of me but i think that that the splash sheild is just a piece of plastic that goes over the edge of the fender well to keep water from splashing into the engine bay if that's what i'm thinking then i'm pretty sure you would need the fender to attach the splash gaurd to

Re: Inner Fenders

the splash shield is refer'n to the rubber flap at the bottom of the inner fender.

Ok, now that I look at the picture better, I see that the fender isn't actually included in that splash shield.
Anyone know of a cheaper route for inner fenders (besides the scrap yard) than $50 per fender?

Thanks.

I'm going to look for parts trucks with decent fenders. Anybody know if the 73-80 style inner fenders will fit an 86? What about a newer body style?
Thanks.

Thanks man, I havent ever been to that site. It went from $70 at LMC to $20!
I can't believe I've never been to this site before. I'm almost shocked by these prices. I've really been overpaying thru LMC...
Thanks again.

I replaced mine last year and had a friend order them through keystone. He owns a body shop and got them for $60 something for the pair with no shipping or freight. I didn't have a problem with the fitment either.

Anyone know of a site that does free shipping? Im not to worried about the price of the inner fender. Lmc wants 370 to ship me one and goodmark wants 520 to ship one. Any help would be great!

Check for a location near you. They are an aftermarket crash parts supplier.
When I lived up north, there was one about 10 mi from me, no shipping on anything. Just pick them up at their location. My '73 was a driver, so I wasn't to concerned about perfect fit.

Got my doors, inner fenders, kick-panels, rockers, cab corners and I would imagine the front fenders and floor kit came from them. They also supplied the local auto chains for "crash" parts.

I haven't checked, but one of the site vendors may be able to hook you up.

Yeah, I was going to say the same thing. The inner fenders are about $25 from Keystone. The Taiwanese fenders are $80, doors are $130, and they stock all the rust repair parts as well. I work at a bodyshop so the Keystone delivery guy brings me all me parts with our shop orders.
I would imagine that ay bodyshop would be able to order stuff for you and just mark the price up a couple bucks.

Re: Inner Fenders

Thanks everyone. Yeah, Rock Auto was cheaper until I calculated the shipping and realized it was $160 to ship them to me.
I ended up going to a scrap yard and pulling them myself. Although it was a bit far away, it was well worth the $10 each. Can't beat that.

Re: Inner Fenders

We have one aftermarket replacement parts store around where I live that I know of and they have had them back ordered for 3 months... And I work at a body shop and I asked about getting some and my boss said he don't mess with anything that oid so I'm kinda outta luck at the moment. I can't go pull them off another truck because any one that's been in the state for over a few years and has been driven in the winter is just rusted to crap because of all the road salt and gravel
