oil pressure adapter for cheap

Probably not lighting the world on fire with this mod, but I found a really cheap alternative to an 11.00 16mm to 1/8 NPT fitting, for an ls swap
This came to me when I changed out the pressure sensor on my buddies 2005 Tahoe, which are a pain to get out, none the less, after I swapped in the new one I kept his old part and decided to take it apart, when I did I noticed that it is a pretty thick piece of aluminum and figured I would give it a try, so digging out my tap 1/8 NPT and to see which bit I needed to drill it requires an “R” size bit, which when you look it up is an 21/64 bit, which I just so happened to have and it was actually sharp, I drilled and tapped it slowly as I haven’t had much luck with aluminum lately, and ureka you have a cheap fitting adapter.
So not a great pic but here is what you have when you gut the sensor,
Hope this helps anyone looking to save a buck , considering my truck project has costed exactly double of what I figured on everything I have made or bought so far.

Did it that way on the last several swaps I've done. On my '33 the oil pressure sender started leaking and since I wasn't using it I did the same thing only I screwed a plug in it after I tapped it.

These pics are of the original oil line adapter screwed into the ls1 oil fitting. The gray stuff is epoxy I put in it just because I had it and I thought it couldn't hurt to fill the little void in it.

You can see it installed in the second pic of post #18 of the build thread in my sig.

here is what they look like when you pull off the housing and and after i tapped it,
But like with everthing else on my build nothing is simple, this sender is is hitting the back of the intake where it bolts down so i need to put a nipple on it to put it up higher this sending unit is bulky, so i will find a nipple and take a pic of it when its done. i might have noticed this earlier but my motor is already in the truck,

Since you're using that big of an oil sender, you would probably be better off tapping the bypass block above the oil filter. If your engine is clost to the firewall putting an adapter in it would put the sender closer to it too. Just a thought.

i would have liked to put it down there, but with this big oil pressure sensor that came with the gauges i bought i still would have had to put a nipple on it to get it away from the block a little,
but here is my final product that fits nicely using the stock sensor, and i only have the cost of the coupler in this project now, so a little over 2bucks,
I will note that this probably would be alot easier if the motor was out for ether of the oil pressure sensor locations,
