The wife has cought the bug. I have a 85 burb and now she has a 85 long bed. This will be her baby. Just picked it up today. Here it is. Seller clames its a 350 over .060 with the famous RV cam and runs strong. At this point something in the carb/ignition is so bad if i give it more then 1/4 throttle it slows down..... But it did do a 45 min drive and didint even use a 1/8 of a tank. I was so happy. Have lots of work to do to get it daily driveable. Sorry about the side ways pics.;)

Very nice truck, but I do say with no insult that I hate those rims the rest is great.

Very nice idle, not a bad set of rims either. The ones you have on it now remind me of hot wheels.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

It does sound good at idle. There are currently 2 ways to turn it off tho. One is key the other is the pedal. Push pedal half way to floor truck shuts off. It is kinda funny.

I had a tractor that would do the same thing with the throttle when the fuel bowl wasn't fuel, maybe your fuel pump is going bad or your carburetor is clogged somewhere?

I am sure something is going on. I have looked and the accel pump is spraying fuel. Some times it popps threw intake. So i may look at the timing tomorrow

Yeah timming is everything, I have to go through my fuel system on my truck. My carb is not working properly. The fuel inlet line to the carb is now broken too.

That is true about the women drivin old trucks. I love the color on my burb. I plan to have it repainted one day. But i am sure with all the body work the burb needs it will be very expensive.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

So got some work done today. I made the blinkers blink, made throttle do something and tryed to replace master cylinder. The blikers i put a fuse that was missing in and replaced the round deal and they blink. The breaks i removed the master and tryed to install new one and found it was way to big. The throttle issue was timing. I rotated the distributer and you could use the full range of the pedal with out killing the truck. Then i figured i would replace the fuel line and filter. So i did that and then the truck would not idle for more then 3 mins. When it died fuel leaked into the carb bores. So i removed the carb and did a half ways kinda rebuild. I replaced the power valve, needle and seats on both bowls, accel pump, and bowl gaskets. Also blew out all holes i could find with break cleaner. Slapped it back on and now it runs like a champ. Has no breaks so could not see if it drove better but i am 100% sure it will. The float on the back side was adjusted so it pushed the float down and never let fuel in. So if i do ever open the secondarys they will do something other then slow me down. New master should be here tuesday. Also found our grill was just sitting in there with no screws holding it on. And head light clips are busted. Have lots to order befor we can get it ispected.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

Ive got a question. What do the turn signals bolt to? They are just laying in there cause the grill does not have a place for them. My burb has a cut outs for the signals to go in kinda so they mount flush to the inside of grill. This truck has none.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

I couldn't tell you my truck's front end is all tore apart right now, and when we bought the truck it had the wrong grille and stuff so I don't know, but good luck figuring it out.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

How can i tell if i have a th400 or a 375? Guy i got it from says 375 but pan looks like a 400. It does have a few wires that go in it for something.

Re: Our new 85 long bed.

I think only the pan or maybe casting numbers?
