Hello from Oklahoma!

Hey guys just wanted to jump in here and introduce myself. My name is Chad and I'm not really new to the site I have been lurking around gathering ideas and researching my soon to come build for a while. A little about my truck I found one of those long lost barn finds this past year while I was working. I am in law enforcement and stumbled across a 72 Chevy swb setting in a nearly completely collapsed barn while out on a call. I could see the front of the truck and bout fell over myself to go take a look. It was a complete Cheyenne with all trim intact , no broken glass and original olive green and white paint. Needless to say before the day was over I had bought it from the land owner for a grand and was back with a trailer that afternoon. I took it straight to the car wash to rinse off the fifteen years of dust and bird crap and was pleasantly surprised it was in really good shape. Ill post some pics soon when I begin my build. I am planning on starting from the ground up and building a nice resto mod with my donor LS from a crashed 2003 tahoe. But anywho I love the site and it has gave me some excellent ideas and a good Idea of where to start.

What's a guy gotta do to stumble on a find like that?

Welcome from Texas!

Welcome to the board from Missouri. Let's see some pics of this baby.
Any of us will be glad to help! Look for Bill, he's got a '70 step, and he'll be a lot of help. Palf70Step. He's been here since '02.

Sorry I have not posted pics I can’t send them from work since it’s not allowed on government computers lol but I’ll get them up shortly. I have to make a decision tho I was talking to my paint and body guy trying to get a game plan on my black with white top and inserts and he offered to buy my truck and trade me cash and his 72. So here is what he has a 72 Cheyenne with no motor or trans missing the trim but an excellent cab and bed and etc... He wants mine since he wants to do a frame off resto back to factory and I’m gonna toss most of the original stuff and make it a nice resto-mod with new bumpers and trim and a LS swap. I’m not worried about using original parts, so $7000 cash money and a good base for my build sounds like a good trade.

I'd say go for it. Do you have a trans to go back in the other '72 that you might be trading for?

I have a complete 5.3 and trans out of a 03 tahoe that i am planning on swapping in whatever truck i do. I actually have the tahoe thanks to my grand father having a body shop and his adjuster buddy got it for me for a heck of a deal.

If you've got the Vortec and transmission to go in it, man I'd say go for it. I don't see how you can go wrong with it.

Don't forget the pics, and don't forget to start a build thread. Lol
