Tailgate band letters, painted?
 

Anyone know if the letters on the tailgate were painted originally? Have a 1971 GMC, and all letters are chrome. Should they be black in indentation?

when me and the father-in- law done his in 1988 the letters were in vynal? form.his truck was medium red and white with the letters white.
that was the first repaint on the truck ever. he bought the truck new. we still have it today.its the truck in avatar.

This is a good question - I assumed ALL were painted originally. But that was my A$$umption only...

The GMC Tailgate band letters were chrome and black. WES

Thank sfor the responses. Thank you for the pic too, really helps. Mine being just chrome really makes them "pop", but maybe too much.
