Gear ratio help

I know this has been talked about alot but i cant find a good answer. I would like to know what gear ration i should put in my 70' c-10 with a 12bolt posi. I want low end torque but i also want to cruise on the parkway nicely. Some info on the truck, it has a 350 bored .30 over, 2.02 iron heads, comp thumper cam, edelbrock performer, and a 600cfm carb. The trany is a stock turbo 350. My gear ration right now is 4.10.

Re: Gear ratio help

i would go 3:73 or 3:42, 3:73 will be good for getting of the line but kinda tough on cruising the parkway, so 3:42 should be a better fit. but either one will be better than 4:10's

Personally, I'd leave what you have and get a TH700R4 or, even better IMO, a TH200 4R

Re: Gear ratio help

yea i was thinking 3.73 or somewhere along that line. And i was also thinking about leaving it. I have a 700r4 laying in my garage that im not sure about because i here they break easily. What are your opinions on the 700r4 and what do you think my top speed would be with the 700r4 with 3.73 and a 29 inch tire?

Re: Gear ratio help

373 is what the factory used with the 7004r most of the time

my mods are similar to what you have and I run 3.73. Great in town and off the line but freeway is a little harsh.... once I get my 700r4 in I think it will be a perfect fit
