1972 suburban a/c front and rear
I recently bought mr sub I love it! The a/c compressor is missing nut the factory rear a/c and the rest of the front a/c components are still there. My question is weather I should try to rebuild what's left or should I start over? What to I need to do to check the system out? Is there a better system to fit in it's place. Any help would be great for these are un charted waters for me.

Re: 1972 suburban a/c front and rear
I have the same situation, and these were the answers I got:
I was told by several people to keep the factory set up, that it would cool these beasts better than the aftermarket setups. I've also seen people "merge" a newer front setup w/the original rear stuff. So I would get a new (not rebuilt!) A6 compressor and start there. The system will probably have to be purged and a vacuum pulled on the system, then charged w/refrigerant to the proper levels. (I don't know much about A/C systems, so forgive me if my terminology is off!) I still haven't done this on my system, b/c the weather has been nice. But I will have to do it before long! Good Luck! |

Hey Riveted1 thanks for the advice! It is much appreciated and I will continue with sticking to the original design. Thanks
