First batch of powder coating
1 Attachment(s)
I got my first batch of a couple of dozen parts from my teardown back from the powder-coater today (Powder Vision in Sammamish, WA). Pretty much everything looks like new or better, so I'm pretty happy.
I had them do the "low gloss" sheen, what they call about 20% gloss, to match the original underhood black color. Looks pretty much perfect in person, at least compared to "Eastwood Underhood Black" that I compared it against. All these parts were stipped and prepped and coated for $125.00, which I can't help but think was a pretty good deal! |
Re: First batch of powder coating
That looks really nice. I've also found myself addicted to powdercoating - drop off ugly parts, pick up nice new looking stuff! To me, it's not worth the sanding, wire wheeling and painting when you have a good local powdercoater.

Re: First batch of powder coating
I know, I spent about $600 getting all of the PPG products I'd need (epoxy primer, primer, base coat, clear coat, all the hardners and activators and reducers) not even counting the gun. And while its far superior to rattle can, it's still nowhere near as durable as powder, so I'll be coating everything I can!
