What to do on a cold Sunday afternoon? ROADTRIP

Since today has been a boring Sunday afternoon and it is too cold outside to comfortably work on the truck (40*), I decided to take a short roadtrip to Fort Worth, Texas down US (highway) 377.

Originally, US 377 was built in the early 1930s between the county courthouse in Denton, Texas to the Tarrant county courthouse in Fort Worth, Texas. Later US 377 kept expanding further south until it reached the Texas border in Del Rio. US 377 goes north into Oklahoma.

My destination was the Tarrant county courthouse. Unfortunetly, I lost 377 somewhere at I35. :( I then decided to just head north on I35 back to Denton.

After checking all of the trucks vitals, my first stop was to top off the fuel tank. A little over 9 gallons was needed. $3.48 a gallon came to $31.55.

My next stop was to the old Denton County courthouse on the square.

Old Fine Arts movie theater on the square.

Oh yeah, and sorry for the picture quality on some of these pictures. I didn't stop for most of 'em.

Continueing on! Next is a sleepy little town called Argyle. Not much to take a picture of. The local law enforcement are known for pulling over speeders though on both 377 and I35.

Third pic, Union Pacific train heading north.

Fourth pic, two lane black top.

Fifth pic, typical Texas winter time picture.

Looks like fun! Sometimes getting out and driving is the best thing to do

Next town up is Roanoke, Texas. Roanoke has some great little restaurants. Unfortunetly since I didn't stop and because of some light traffic I didn't get any descent pictures.

1st pic of backside of Hard Eight Pit BBQ.

2nd pic which is a fantastic pic of another BBQ joint that had a really cool wall mural which I missed while driving by! :dohh:

3rd pic on the road.

4th & 5th pictures of Keller, Texas.

How about a big old inflated patriotic Eagle above an used car dealership? :uhmk:

From Keller US 377 goes into Watugua and then Haltom City. Traffic was getting pretty heavy and there were lots of red lights so I didn't really get any photos.

3rd picture of an old movie theater called Haltom in yep you guessed it, in Haltom City.

4th picture, how about a big old cow on top of a local steak house?

5th picture is another great shot of an old stone motel and a fender of a white D*dge pickup.

1st & 2nd pic of leaving Haltom City and Entering Fort Worth.

3rd picture of a sweet little mustang and downtown Fort Worth.

4th picture down town Fort Worth and unfortunetly just after I lost trail of US 377. You'll have to settle for a picture I pulled off of the internet of Tarrant County courthouse and imagine I took it.

Sounds like a great way to pass the time on a cold day. I like to get off the beaten path. There's no tellin what you will see.

Well other than that I saw the aftermath of an accident on southbound I35 by Alliance airport and a couple of F15s ? chasing each other around the gray skies.

I only burned a quarter of a tank and unfortunetly I didn't clear my trip log on my GPS so I don't know how many miles I put on the odometer. My guess is about 90 miles or so. I really didn't plan the trip I just decided to go cruising for a bit.

Thanks for following along!

Great idea for a cloudy sunday afternoon....sure beats hanging around inside watching the tube.
As for the temperature, 40°....thats where are our season is as right now up here with temps maybe heading up to the mid 50's towards the weekend.
Yep, too cool still for comfortably doing too much outside while standing in one spot.;)
