Baggers: What do you use to....
Guys,
Simple question. I am curious as to what you used to run the air from your compressors, tanks, bags and gauges? Also, tell us if you are driving often, if it is a truck that has basic lowering, do you lay frame, and why you made the choices that you did. Thanks. This might help those of us who are looking to bag our trucks, as well as give us ideas if we have already set it up, and want to find options to reinforce the system. Thanks! |

Money ususally dictates most of our choices.
Spend the bucks on DOT approved air line and fittings. Use a good sealant on the threads (like Loctite 545) Keep the air lines away from pinch points, sharp edges and heat. Buy the best air management components you can afford. |

Air line size depends on how fast you want it to lift and lower same thing with the valves size too.

3/8 DOT, anywhere it could possibly rub metal gets sheathed in a larger hose to protect it.

I used 3/8 hydraulic hose on my 72, and use a lot of 3/8 aluminum hard line with push lock fittings. The hydrauilic hose is expensive, but will not have failure issues. It is not as pretty as the aluminum, but you do not have to bend it. I like trying diffrent things at diffrent times.

when i goes back under the frame on your truck texastrendz does it change to hard line...

there is no hard line on this truck as far as the air system, it is all hydraulic hose, using nitrogen as an air source.

I am considering removing the 3/8" DOT air lines I have and going with hydraulic lines. Oh, joy. But, I'm sure I will be happier in the end.

I would run with what you got, I use the hydraulic hose because I have nice access to it and get it dirt cheap. Just make damn sure you cut it square at the ends and route it nicely. Common sense is the key to it. For some folks sense ain't to common. lol

I used 1/2" lines and valves, but only because I had it. It's actually way too fast even with the port from my tank being only 3/8" (doesn't actually hop, but feels like it). If I did it all over, it'd be 3/8" all the way (and accuair), plus the 3/8" DOT line is MUCH easier to route.

Consider using aluminum hard lines and bending them yourself. Its really not that difficult.
I ran 1/2" hardlines on the supply side of my system (ie, comp to tanks to valve block), then I ran 3/8" plastic lines from the valve block to each bag. For heat and chaffing protection I used Thermo-Tec Heat sheild tubing to route the plasting line through in critical locations. |

I've used stainless steel braid line and -8 A.N. fittings in the past and had really good luck with it. I plan on using it on the truck I'm building now.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I have 3/8 DOT lines. I will probably run that shielding you mentioned above, and call it a day. I don't want it too fast..I like how it works now...
