Frame mounted brake booster vs exhaust clearance
 

Anyone have some good under vehicle pics or cab off pics of exhaust clearance with a frame mounted brake booster (1950) and motor and auto Trans mounted??

Wanting to go this route but before I order the parts I want to make sure I don't have to run the exhaust low or routed in a awkward manner. Or is this normally even an issue?

It was an issue on my 59 truck. I have a 3" exhaust and turbo 400 with a two stage booster. Things got close on the drivers side, but I would still recommend the frame mount booster. Just keep in mind that you must clear speedometer cable, booster and shift lever when fabricating exhaust. And I ran the exhaust over the trans crossmember. I did notch crossmember as it was 2" square tubing. No pics. Sorry.

i have 1000's of pics of my truck, none of the exhaust or under the truck after assembly.
the lowest thing on a 47 to 59 truck is the bottom of the doors and steps, on my 58 the door is 5-6'' lower than the frame.
it makes it a pain in the butt to get on a hoist, but easy to run an exhaust to the rear axle.
my exhaust is 3-4'' below my frame, every frame mounted booster is frame mounted
i can't imagine any clearance issue with an exhaust system.
i can't imagine any need for a 3'' exhaust system either.

Here is what I have for photos from the engine to the mufflers. I used stock rams horn exhaust, under frame brake booster and MC, auto trans and transfer case, keeping the original crossmember and modified stock trans/transfer crossmember. The original muffler guy did a good job of keeping everything up high so there was less to scrape off with rocks and logs. It is 4wd so I had a little more room to work with, but good muffler guys can do amazing work.

Here was my fix, I sure hated to do it this way but better then the exhaust heating up my wiring harness and booster... But it works and have no worries now:metal:

I don't know what you think about them, but Sanderson headers that route through the inner fenders would fix the problem.
