Shaved driprails...
Anybody here shave the driprails on your square? I'm thinking about shaving them on my dually. I think it looks clean, plus we don't get much rain here in sunny SoCal.
I guess I'm asking if there's anyone who has done it and now regrets it for whatever reason. |
Re: Shaved driprails...
I shaved mine and it was a daily for several months before the engine went. I never had issues with getting doused with water when getting out or leaking door seals. You could always pull yours off and see how you like it.

Re: Shaved driprails...
as long as you have good weatherstripping you shouldn't have any issues with leaking

Re: Shaved driprails...
Mine totally soaked me in the rain without the driprails. the water actually catches on the doorframe and comes inside and gets the seat soaked like 1.5ft inside. if your're in it and open the door count on a soaked crotch.
Also if you have any issues with the gap at the top of the door when closed, removing the drip rails will make it look 10x worse. |
Re: Shaved driprails...
when i first bought my truck the PO had taken off the drip rails. I liked them on so i put them back. i did find that the drip rails were pretty finctional.. particularly when there was snow ontop of the truck

Re: Shaved driprails...
I shaved mine on my dually and love it. Much cleaner look. That being said my truck never sees rain the only water it sees is from the garden hose when I am washing it.

Re: Shaved driprails...
On second though, maybe I ought to leave them on. Having my crotch doused with cold rain water is not something that seems particularly endearing.

Re: Shaved driprails...
The po removed mine and I want to kill him. If I don't slam my doors the seats get wet and I get soaked.

Re: Shaved driprails...
The PO on mine shaved them. I think they look better without them but, if I park mine outside and it rains the inside gets wet. Good thing I have a garage to leave it parked in!

Re: Shaved driprails...
I think that's the worst thing GM ever did was to remove the drip rails on the newer trucks. Sucks plowing, windshield wipers on, and any time it's raining. I don't know what they were thinking other than making the trucks look funny without them. On another note I like the looks of the drip rails. I think it adds some chrome and breaks up the side view.

Re: Shaved driprails...
My old truck didn't come with them ('73), PO put a set on it. I took them off, 2 weeks later they went back on.

Very well said. Nothing turns my head quicker than an original "square". |
