Re: wheel hop when braking ?
I'm not sure what you mean by hop, but if the rotor is warped that could cause it to feel pretty rough.

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
Not its not the rotor there fine, its like when im slowing down the wilk start to wobble/hop then the whole truck start shaking so I gotta stop all the way for it could stop shaking

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
My truck bounches up and down braking at 45+ and anything under it shakes like a freezing bird. I know that I need to have new control arm bushings put in because mine are bad. When I replaced the pads the rotors seemed okay. Not sure though. Subbed.

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
if the rotor isnt warped check your rubber line and caliper.. its something in that front brake other thing ive seen is if the wheel bearing nut is too tight that that will happen

Classic worn shock symptom.

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
I would check all the front end components, tie rods, idler arm etc. something is loose. Get under it and have someone move the steering wheel back and forth slowly. If somethings worn out you should be able to spot it.

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
Just a question guys, when someone says you need a front end rebuild what necessarily does that mean? I know that my control arm bushings are bad but a family friend that is a mechanic said I'd probably need a complete front end rebuild. I'm going to try to start buying the necessary parts but besides control arm bushings what else is required?
Thanks. |
Re: wheel hop when braking ?
Jack the frot end up. Shake the tires. Left and right and up an down. See what parts you new to replace.
Remember after front end work needs an alignment.. Posted via Mobile Device |
Re: wheel hop when braking ?
things to check for wear on front suspension
upper and lower ball joints inner and outer tie rod ends idler arm pitman arm steering box control arm bushings I cant remember if center link has a joint in it but if it does it will need checking also shocks might just take it to alighnment shop for free estimate. call to make sure its free first |
Re: wheel hop when braking ?
do you feel eny vibration in the brake pedal when stopping? thats a dead give away for a warped rotor. it could be a sticking piston in the caliper also. BUT before you start throwing parts at it check everything over realy good first.

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
a rebuilt front end consists of control arm bushings, bump stops, tie rod ends- inner and outer, ball joints , idler arm, pitman arm, and centerlink.. in these trucks the centerlink is solid metal and seldom goes You can add front shocks and springs in that mix too

Re: wheel hop when braking ?
I have been looking into a compete front end kit from PST suspension. Besides this kit (http://www.p-s-t.com/s.nl/it.A/id.116/.f?sc=12) what else would I need to get?
