I first bought my 1970 1/2 ton 2wd suburban about 8 years ago. We finally decided to restore...sort of.

here is some of the stripping process before body and paint work
the worst of the rust was a little on the passenger side floor board and some rust inside the hatch. |

i pulled the frame out and replaced it with a 3/4 ton 4x4 frame from this white 1972 burb
its amazing what some wood, 2 bottle jacks and a floor jack can accomplish |

i stuck with stock height suspension and added a front sway bar from an 87 blazer as well as the hydroboost PS system, and picked up a discounted rear sway bar from schwabs

i needed 373 gears and found a front 10 bolt from an 87 burb and rear 14 bolt from a 93 burb
i had to moved the rear spring perch slightly but the front lined up perfect picked up some all steel wheels from wheel vintiques and schwabs M54 radial HT 235/85/16 |

put the white 72 burb on my old frame and its now my daily driver

the old dash was full of hole so we found another along with the large hump trans cover

i actually wanted hugger orange but recieved some bad information and ended up with the factory orange (tangier) instead. i like it but it is a little but more of a show color.
we also kept the original wood bed, it was in amazing shape |

tilt column, you can see the color difference on the steering wheel sound deadener showdown goes in nicely and i i wish i would have known the ac unit would block the kick vent and eliminate your glove box |

off to the diesel shop for my custom spec dodge 47rh auto and NOS cummins 4bt
I added clearance lights and will eventually have dual spot lights |

we went crazy with insulation and sound deadening for fear of diesel noise and vibration
original rear interior quarters changed black then grey with rattle can dye custom auto sound gas strut conversion on the rear hatch |

does anyone know where to get the push in clips for the delux trim rail on the hatch? it is just sitting in place right now
also have a rear heat unit i will hide in the back so i have room for my camping pads |

used american auto wire harness and cant wait to install the grounding kit

That's kinda funny. I was going for his color but he put the wrong paint description in his blog he said it was original tangier but his is actually hugged (red orange) but I love both colors
