Where do new 67 cab mounts go?

The package I received came without instructions. I was wondering if anyone could help me identify where/how the mounts go?

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b.../IMAGE_311.jpg

The first two on the left are a tad shorter than the bushings beside them. I think row 1 and 2 on my pic go on the top but which order front or back and pair up with the cup mounts on the right of pic.

The package did come with metal bolts and inserts but no large washers. Do you think I will need the large metal washers?

Thanks,

Does anyone know of someone who can help me figure this out?

Welcome. Hope this helps some and, yes, you do need the large washers.

When we did mine we put the taller ones in the back. I don't think the front clip has any bushings, at least mine did not.

LMC catalog has a pretty good blow-up view.

That's great guys, I certainly do appreciate you taking the time out to help me with this.

I wish they would include everything needed when they package to sell so called kits. Ah well, I know, they just want me to savour every moment of my project.

My old washers are some rusted, I might just get back on the horn and see if I can order me some new new.

Cheers,

Suggest you pick up a reproduction of the 67-72 Chev/GMC Truck Factory Assembly Manual. I believe I got mine from The Truck Shop in Orange, CA for around $35.00. It was worth it's weight in gold when it came to re-assembly time. Their phone number is: 800-243-8947

Better yet pick up one on CD, searchable, print pages if needed. I have one of each and have not used the paper copy since getting the CD.

Yes large ones definatally in the back. I just installed this same kit. Also you may need to pick up a few extra washers. I had to shim the back up a little and the rad support up a little to get the front clip all alighned.

Thanks for posting those pictures.

Do they affect ride quality a lot? What does it feel like when the cab mounts are shot?

Thx

Re: Where do new 67 cab mounts go?

My ride was pretty not bad actually, I don't think it affects the ride unless the rubber is split right to the metal which would take about a hundred years maybe. I just wanted to replace the bushings as my washers were all rusted and the bushings looked like paper cup holders.

Now that I want to buy the factory manual I'm reading alot about magic-8 ball and missing indexes. Crap, what to do what to do-- I guess maybe no choice with this one.

Yeah np with the piccies, I guess I should get my lazybrain in gear and post the myriad project pictures I have taken already.

The CD Lee H mentioned has a good index which the books do not.

Mine look pretty bad but there's a lot more to do before I get to these!

Re: Where do new 67 cab mounts go and potentially gas tank?

I had to go [advance] with this post. I did order the cd from amazon and it should be here in a week (thanks).

I got some piccies today. I am not too discouraged but I could get nothing done on my project today. Perhaps someone can give me some insight with what is going on here so I don't feel too much like a retard (no offense).

Regarding the front radiator mounts. The small squishy ones are what was mounting my rad bracket. So I don't know if the big ones are them, and if you look in the second picture, they don't even fit in the hole, do I' have to make the mounting hole wider with a drill? Should I just reuse my old mounts? Where do these bushings go?

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b.../IMAGE_336.jpg

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b.../IMAGE_330.jpg (The center metal ring of bushing does not quite fit in the hole in the front bracket, it is 1/8 inch too big.)

Concerning the cab bushings, I can't quite see the diagram above as it is too small. How do these bushings go? If I place the larger bushing between the cab and bracket and the cup bushing under the bracket; the two bushings are stopped together by the center ring and the gap is too large at the bracket to cinch up the bushings together. Should I grind that metal ring down a bit to flush it up with the bracket so that the two bushing pieces squeeze together? (Sorry for this bs paragraph :)

http://i209.photobucket.com/albums/b.../IMAGE_335.jpg

How do they go? The cup up or the cup down?

Also, I don't know if I can piggyback another prblem unto this message but the new gas tank I bought just won't fit. Man oh man, here's some pics, what should I do? Cut the frame up? They spout doesn't even clear the side of the frame.

I was just taking my kid out to the pool and was in a hurry when I wrote that last message. Here is the picture of the gas tank taken from above the left rear wheel.

Do you think I'll need to move that cross-member under the box? Does this have anything to do with the fact that I've replaced my wooden box with a metal box?

Cheers,

Re: Where do new 67 cab mounts go?

The radiator cushions you were sent are for a 1969-72. The frame holes on a 69-72 are larger and the cushions are thicker. You'll need to get 1960-68 radiator support cushions kit. Yes 60-66 & 67-68 use the same radiator support mounting kits. Do not use the 69-72 cushions & hardware since they are thicker if you install them you will find your gap where the fender meets the door to be uneven. Using 69-72 radiator mounbts on a 67-or 68 will cause the gap between fender and door at bottom to be very wide and the gap at the fender to door at the top will be very narrow or no gap at all by using the taller 69-72 mounts for the radiator support on a 67-68 front clip.

That is some amazing piece of info. I was thinking about the clearances being affected. So now the real question, are the cab bushings from a 69 as well and if they are will they affect?

Thanks for your reply,

Cheers,

The cab mount bushings used on 67-72 1/2ton 2 wheel drive trucks were all the same, the only difference is in the radiator support which I already described.

Re: Where do new 67 cab mounts go?

Okay, thanks for confirming this with me.

I had a better look at underneath my box, the crossmember tucks right behind the wheel wells. I am concerned that if I cut this crossmember it will create a weak spot in my box floor. I just can't believe that placing this gas tank is going to be such a problem. I suppose I could just cut the crossmember enough to allow the tank to slide in, but that will only leave about 8" of the crossmember on either side of the frame.

If anyone has any suggestion or knows of anyone that has tackled this problem, please let me know.

Thanks,

I have ordered support mounts for my radiator and they will arrive in a few weeks.

I have started another thread concerning my gas tank conversion.

Cheers,
